A shelter can literally be under a tree if it needs to be, and if you can build a fire up against a mound or rock where it will reflect heat back, then you've got your first two survival boxes ticked. But yeah, you need to be warm and dry otherwise all of your energy is going to get sapped by your body trying to stop you from freezing and then you're good for nothing.
Luvgonzo Villas South Wales Lots of craft beers and a nice wingback chair He's probs just up the road from you to be fair mate
You'll need to hop out of that in a minute mate, because I've just sold two evenings in your wingback chair to bushcraft man on Air BnB
I can imagine Mrs luv now. Who's the bloke in the chair? luv. Uhhm doing an Airbnb thing I'm going in the backroom to watch EastEnders luv. Yeah okay, he'll be gone in the morning Yeah whatever
No chance he'd have to put up with what I've got on TV. It'll be Corrie, stenders, Emmerdale Farm followed by Lube Island and Strictly. It's why I have a back room.
Right I’ve hada drink so can talk about itt now. District nurses trying to pin what’s happenning to my dad on me. I was cleaning his arse 8 9 10 times a day and noticed thist fleshy thing inside his arse, thought it was piles and told him so. District nurses who come twice a week to Clean and.change him never said anything so though it was that and got on with it. I wa at shops when they called to say they found hole in his arse and he had to go to hossy. Igot to house nd they told me where it is and isaid yeah noticed it 3 weeks ago. They looked it each other and then I told them where it was. I had to go to gates to let ambulance in men and 1 nurse followed me out saying I do understand its shared collabration don’t I. I said not fair I’m not a nurse and thought it was pikes. My dad in hossy now and dr told me it’s worse sore he’s ever seen. Now go sepsis, having antibiotics nd blood transfusion. Could die next few days and I’m thinkin what if I done yhis or done that. Head ****ed and drinking vodka all the time when II can. ****s. Can’t hide it no more. Heads ****d man
You've been looking after your old man the best you can mate and you've done more for him than anybody else Like you say, you're not a nurse or a doctor and you can't be expected to diagnose these things. If the District nurses are coming twice a week to clean and change him, then one of them should have picked up on this tbh. I know things can get missed sometimes and that's nobody's fault. But they shouldn't be trying to tell you that it's shared culpability. It sounds like they are trying to cover their backs because they've missed it. Sorry to hear that all of this **** is going on for you mate. Don't beat yourself up about it though, you've done everything you can to take care of him
This was my thought. Not Safs fault, as you say he's not a doctor or nurse and he's certainly not trained to cover for NHS underfunding.
Cant imagine what it is like to be doing what he has been doing without training and then to have someone try to hang their guilt on you All of us would struggle with what Saf is trying to do
hey man, its not your fault, you ain't a doctor. Its a fact of life as well, we all die sooner or later and with your dads condition it 100% not your fault lastly, you are the only one taking care of your pap, he'd have probably gone even sooner if not for you so he can thank you for that (and knowing someone cared for him)
I've looked after a dying parent and it's bewildering and distressing. You basically just make it up as you go along, try to do your best and wonder if what you're doing is actually helping or hindering. All the time trying to deal with your own emotions. Saf needs the support of the medical professionals, like you say not trying to pin their guilt on him because they've missed something.
My girlfriend is a nurse mate, she said that's ****ing unacceptable and 100% the nurses fault, you cannot be expected to know something like that and it's the entire point of the nurses to come in and see that. You can change his nappy once a week, they are meant to make sure things are in order. She's fuming reading this that they tried to blame you. If they didn't instantly call that in, how the hell do they expect you to instantly report it? They will have just panicked knowing they couldn't be arsed doing a proper job and have tried to clear their minds from blame mostly by saying "oh how did he not notice that!" But they know for a fact that was their responsibility. If the worst does happen, the last person to blame is you Saf. You've been there for him, everyone knows it, you aren't a doc man.
