Does anyone know if we did a deal with Everton so that Dele can play without triggering large payments?
Been watching some clips of Bergvall. Clips can obviously be deceiving and make Davinson Sanchez look like Ledley King but think we’ve got another baller on our hands that could really suit Ange-ball. The way he moves with the ball along with his range of passing gives the impression he’s got attributes you’d generally associate with players like Xavi, Iniesta (no wonder Barca wanted him) and Maddison. Drops the shoulder for a dribble attempt, uses what I call the “two foot dribble” in tight spaces in which he plays the ball off of one foot to the other to create space and he’s got that smooth technique when spraying it wide or over the top. Apparently Laporta said that he plays like Frenkie too, he was who I desperate for us to sign prior to his Barca move. It sounds like he’s been told he’ll be in the squad upon arrival in the summer and I suppose that’s what massively helped potentially sway his decision. If I get chances I might see if I can catch any Djurgardens games on my iptv throughout the next 6 months.
Whatever happened to that youtube guy CitizenKane me and rcl subscribed to (their "Welcome to Tottenham, Samir Nasri" vid reel was a classic) ... ??
The lad is 18 today, nice Birthday present, obviously he has some growing to do but if he can keep the speed and skills we could have a unit on our hands , we are building a nice young squad to serve us for years to come
Just think, if his parents boinked two days earlier he'd already be on our training pitch and potentially qualify as both HG and CG
Thoughts on Jan window everyone? 8.5/10 for me. 8 of that 8.5 is down to signing Dragusin alone. Desperately needed another CB since the summer. We’ll see how he does but he seems a decent fit on paper. Werner… meh. Two assists though so far so fair play to him. Bergvall looks a real talent and seemingly strong Ange-ball suitability. Some big earners and unwanted players are off the books which is great heading into the summer and a few youngsters have been given loans to aid development. Would’ve liked a couple more to head out on loan and another addition for the first team would’ve been a cherry on top but in comparison to how the market was, we were one of the teams to excel.
For the here and now : 5 out of 10. Trying to stem the injury plague + internationals drag, equitable departures of Dier + Perisic. For the future : 10 out of 10 for signing young "on paper" prospects.
January is a tricky window, and it appears tougher now. Really interesting the lack of spending this year. other than some absolute out of the blue marquee signing, I don’t know how we could have done much better with all things considered. werner and dragusin were signed during the first 2 weeks, and to not have to witness a deadline day scrap for a vital new first teamer is a breath of fresh air. - just a youngster, who we robbed from Barca As other have said, it genuinely feels like we’ve got a joined up plan now, and it’s felt like a long time coming. Lots still do to in preparation for a potential return to Europe next season, but lots to be positive about at the moment. it’s a 9/10 for me. Not just the additions of the players, but our transfer policy beginning to make sense for a change.
Looking at it in the context of a very, very quiet window (down £730m on last year's! ), I'd say we've had one of the strongest anywhere in Europe. Perhaps the most positive takeaway was in the fact that two highly promising youngsters rejected Bayern and Barca for us. That indicates that after four years of literally making things up as we went along, we finally have a vision and a plan and young players see this. I'm much more optimistic about Werner than you are. I'm not expecting many goals from him, but we are already seeing how useful he can be in creating chances for others. His ability to get to the byline at pace and cut a cross back in is something we've lacked on that flank for over a year now since Son lost a yard or two of pace, and I think when the latter returns they will work really well together. Even as an option off the bench, I'd sooner have Werner come on to run at the opposition than Gil or Lo Celso, so it's a very astute and totally risk free addition. The only area of disappointment for me is in outgoings. We didn't do nearly enough on this front in the summer and aside from finally getting Dier our the club, we made no progress on this front at all, instead we kicked multiple cans further down the road. Come June and we'll have Ndombele, Lo Celso, Sessegnon, Gil, Rodon, Tanganga, Reguilon and Spence to sort out.Again. Plus uncertainty over the futures of Hojbjerg and Skipp. It's a real bottleneck at the moment and tbh I can't see us shifting more than 4-5 of those in the summer.
Not so. Barca are far from their tika-taka glory. If Madrid had come in for either, there they would be. As I said on Munich, if Dragusin was high priority for them, there he would be. Think back to Modric/Bale era Spurs. Being the final club you play at before going to an apex predator is a good story to have. If during that time you become a domestic/CL hegemon, then they are more likely to stay. "I'm much more optimistic about Werner than you are. I'm not expecting many goals from him, but we are already seeing how useful he can be in creating chances for others." My only issue with Werner is what drain he may be on the wage bill. Other than that, he has a point to prove (get into the Germany Euro24 squad) and in order to do that he must put in a shift. If he maintains his current assist rate he may achieve that, and help Spurs in the bargain. "The only area of disappointment for me is in outgoings. This IMHO is the real test of current Levy. My gut instinct is that if Spurs get into the CL, he will do a "rob Peter to pay Paul" on the balance sheet and action the authority to purge that Pochettino got after the 2014-15 season (even though Levy did not recoup as much in total as he would have in days of yore) .
