In part, some of it was the fault of Brexit or more so our stubborness not to make up our workforce shortfall by allowing in sufficient temporary migrant workers. As a result the growers at Thanet Earth didn't bother growing any tomatoes for that particular calendar period, because they knew they would have insufficent manpower. Yes, the shortfall could have been made up with imports, (that without checking factually myself) you have mentioned.
