Don't get all this flogged to death stuff, if they are injury free they will want to play every game. It's not like we have cup games to worry about, all we have no league.
Everyone needs a physical and mental break from their work at some point. These boys have played a huge amount of games since breaking into the team. All 3 of our midfield are playing lots of games at a tender age. It would be nice to have the option to rest them at points this season
I'd like an extra striker and another midfielder tomorrow but it all depends on outgoings. If Hemir, Matete and Triantis all go out on loan then I could see us bringing in Mundle, a striker and a midfielder. What I don't want us to do is bloat the squad and block the pathway of the likes of Rigg so the signing has to be right. We can't afford to lose a big player at this stage so any Clarke/Neil/Ballard offers should be turned down unless they are seriously daft offers. I'm relaxed going into tomorrow, I expect it to be busy but not going to be overly concerned if it's not.
Well I’ve just been with a bloke 2nite who said we are mad to turn down €15m for Clark then when I questioned his statement his response was is he worth more than that and this lot will defo take the €15m how made are people
That exchange between you two lads @FellTop and @Smug in Boots encapsulates all that is good on this board. Thanks to you both for reminding me why it means so much to so many genuine fans. Personal circumstances have meant I’ve had to take most of the last couple of months away from here which has been aligned witj with a turbulent period for club and supporters alike. We all love this club, as did so many who are no longer with us. HTL
I wouldn't be all that bothered if we didn't sign anyone else this window, not that I don't think we will. The main thing was LB and we've sorted that and got a rapid winger in the mix too. I'd like a defensive midfielder but we're pretty well stocked there, enough for it not to be urgent. Same goes for upfront. I'd be happy to see Rusyn getting more time with Hemir and Mayenda backing him up.
Genuine question but how much do people think he's worth? It's all very well ripping the piss out of championship defenders but it's a massive step up to Premier. I've no doubt he can make jump but it's not set in stone and still a gamble I guess.
We’ve only got 3 midweek games until the end of the season now. Don’t think we need to worry too much about overplaying Ekwah, Jobe and Neil. KS said the club are really happy with those 3. I don’t see anyone arriving going ahead of them in the pecking order. Keep the 3 of them together and they could grow into a really formidable unit. Great to have Rigg coming through too. Aouchiche’s best position would be where Jobe played against Stoke, left of a middle 3. From what I’ve read at least. big question mark over how much the coaching staff rate matete. Would have loved the young lad from villa we were linked with but Emery has said publicly that he wants to keep him. If we were to replace matete with a press resistant powerful tall wonder kid CDM, that would be great. Easier said than done. part of me wants an experienced CDM but it was great to see Neil instead of Ekwah play there on Saturday. I’ll always remember Mowbray fondly but think that was one call he got wrong this season. We’re not gonna drop Neil ekwah or Jobe so I don’t see how an expensive experienced holding midfielder would fit in.
Don't buy the physical or mental rest stuff, you ask most players if they want to play or not every game, and they will say yes. Players are more pissed off if they are dropped. I do agree we could do with another player in though as a option
