You have to imagine that it is only there to make our price tag really clear ? When was the last time Juve spent that on a player ? They spend over €40m on establish top level Serie A players or players from clubs like Barca or Bayern. Would be stunned if he goes permanently for that fee
Imagine if they get for £40M and he goes on to be the next Bale level talent through our doors... We wouldn't be so happy then! However, Bale looked a class above the Champ at 17... so, unlikely!
The only issue could be if he performs well and Juventus don't want to pay the asking price. Could unsettle Alcaraz.
Very unlikely. Ignoring Messi & Ronaldo, Bale was probably the best player in the world for a few years... I don't think we need to worry about that too much! Evennif Charly does go on the be a brillisnt player, he would have to go some to be worth much more than £40m. Just seems an insane amount of money, which is why it probably wont happen.
£40m is basically a good, top half PL level player nowadays, which is mad but is where we are. Throw in Charly’s age and I don’t think it is a crazy fee, doubt Juve pay it mind you
Norwich have signed Sydney van Hooijdonk, a striker we were rumoured to be after last summer. Will be interesting to see how he gets on.
'At least'. Wonder if he'd sign a new contract with a low release clause if not promoted? Wishful thinking maybe
I'm sorry but I just don't see how people are ok with this! Charlie is easily one of our best players and we loan him out and replace him with Rothwell? Jesus Christ. Yeah he apparently doesn't fit RM's style, so what? He's a game changer. We're supposed to be trying to get promoted and we fling a player like him out. Utter madness. We're on a great run but that isn't going to last forever.
Gutted to be honest. Not a full meltdown like when we lost some other players, but genuinely love Alcaraz. I get the logic in it, because RM seemingly doesn’t rate him for his style. But Alcaraz is a top, top, top player with an amazing attitude. Think he could shine there.
It’s more that what are we supposed to do ? It’s Juventus. As someone on SW said “hell I’d move there and I’ve supported saints for 40 years” He doesn’t get in the side and the notion of him being a game changer hasn’t really been evidenced this season. What games has he changed? How many points can he be pointed to as having won? And this is a legit question Fair play for not trying to force his way out in the summer when he could have done. But by rights he should be the leading light of our promotion push if he is good as your reaction suggests. And he just … isn’t.
When he didn’t leave in the summer I’ve thought that if we got promoted he would sign a new deal after the season finished. Whether we would want to do that is another question Doesn’t make any sense for him to sign a deal now with a release clause, unless we pay him a fair bit more
He could be if he was given a chance. We don’t play to his strengths at all. Obviously what we are doing is working well, so this isn’t a criticism. But he is a fantastic player.
