Just started Shrinking on Apple plus. It's good so far. A bit like Ted Lasso, but it's got Harrison Ford in it and he's great.
Just watched season 1 of Love/Hate. Irish crime drama was on RTE but now on ITV X. Really enjoyed it. 4 to go.
Think the producer of Ted Lasso and Brett Goldstein (Roy Kent) write it? I had no idea when I watched it and still reminded me of Ted Lasso so definitely something similar about it!
Love Mr Inbetween mate it's solid gold. Top 3 of all time for me. If anyone's got Disney and hasn't seen it yet give it a go:
When I watched it last year, I was gutted it was finished and remember reading Scott Ryan was writing a new show. Can't seem to find anything now.
Finished watching Severance last night, strange but a good watch. Second series will probably be ages away still.
I had a look myself this morning to see what he was up to, nowt really other than it won't be about Ray. Agreed about Severance btw, really odd but very good at the same time. I found the central concept fascinating. Think you're right about S2 they've only just recently resumed filming.
Probably been mentioned already but succession is absolutely brilliant so many great characters. Halfway session 3 atm.
I convinced myself I read he had something in the pipeline after putting Mr Inbetween and Ray to bed but doesn't seem to be the case. Couldn't pick a single fault with the show. Held up by the strikes I believe, which is going to be the case for a lot of shows. I started a 3 month trial with Apple and it has some decent stuff, watched Slow Horses and Severance so far (thats not including Ted Lasso and Shrinking which i watched in streaming box and both sre good). Reckon I'll try that Blackbird next.
Blackbird is another quality show, great acting from everyone including Ray Liotta in one of his last roles. The guy who plays the killer is superb, creepy as **** but draws you in at the same time.
Shrinking is excellent. Written by Bill Lawrence who ran Ted Lasso and Scrubs back into the day. Christa Miller (the neighbour Liz in Shrinking and Jordan in Scrubs) is his wife.
THAT'S where I know Liz from! Masters Of The Air is also decent so far on Apple. Not quite Band Of Brothers standard but you get a good idea of what they went through.
Watched most of the second series of Reacher and surprisingly it's been a bit ****. Fight scenes are badly choreographed and PG rated, story is boring, one liners are crap and make up half of the script. Next series needs to ditch the team dynamic entirely and get back to the ultra violent one man army vibe.
dad's army, open all hours, the young ones, bottom, Steptoe and son, Benny hill show, Q 9 series, lost in space, the avengers, etc etc.
"Don't mess with the special investigators" or whatever ****e it was! Worth a watch but not a patch on the first series, agree the team dynamic is ****e for Reacher. I will hold my hands up and say I laughed at the line where Robert Patrick the t-1000 from terminator 2 was asked if he knew Sarah Connor. Talking about shows with violent fight scenes I'd like to see them carry on with the punisher! The rest of the marvel shoes that Netflix made were boring but enjoyed that one!
Yeah the writing in the second series was pure cheese compared to the first, too many people trying to be funny. Still watchable but if the third series is worse still I'll probably sack it off. They should do the book with the serial killer in next, that was a belter and would get them back on track. My pick for best violent fight scenes is Banshee, you really feel every punch in that. Love that show.
Only seen a few episodes of Banshee but it was very good for the fight scenes. Particularly where he ****ed up the mma bloke! I can't remember the book with the serial killer but it's been years seen I've read a Reacher. I've been making my way through the Bosch and Micky Haller books.
