I reported that in his "Welcome" interview, Darko Gyabi was asked who the best player he'd ever trained or played with was and answered "Keven De Bruyne". It shows the type of player we're signing that when asked the same question, Alfie Devine said "Harry Kane".
Only three more days to go....and Morgan Whittaker is still our player. Article on Twitter/X that Lazio have shown interest in him. They supposed to have offered Sunderland 16 million Euros for Jack Clark which they turned down.
It seems that Italian club Lazio put in an offer last night (Mon) for Morgan Whittaker which was immediately turned down. Neil Dewsnip said that Whittaker isn't for sale and that the player is very happy at PAFC. No mention of what the offer was worth.....it does seem that Swansea might have a 25% sell on contract for the player....which personally means that it would have to be a very substantial offer for Argyle to be even interested.
One guesstimate on pasoti reckons they offered ...€10 million and Argyle wanted €18 million. But if Dewsnip said he isn't for sale than that is a lot of cobblers obviously.
The story in the 'Erald does state that Lazio's interest was discussed with Morgan Whittaker's agent before it was rejected. I think this is an important point. He was treated badly by Swansea and we mustn't repeat that. https://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/sport/11879089/rangers-target-morgan-whittaker-lazio-plymouth/
PAFC have made it clear to Lazio that Morgan Whittaker is not for sale.....well not at the price that they wanted to pay. But there is still talk that there might be an offer from one or two Premier clubs before the window closes on Feb 1st. Dewsnip has commented that Argyle are in the market for at least one more player...although it wasn't stated in what position. We do depend on Whittaker and Hardie for the bulk of our goals....and the thought of either getting injured makes me wonder who would score instead.....and the answer is we really haven't really got anyone who could stand in and score goals....it is difficult to see how we could find a striker as back up......Bundu hasn't really delivered as yet....and it is to early for young Issaka to step into that situation. Lets hope that Whittaker is still here on the Feb 2....because there would very little time to find a replacement.
We have 47 league goals so far. Whittaker and Hardie between them have scored just less than half so the rest have around 24 between them. That isn't bad and most teams have a couple or even just one who is a bulk contributor for the goals for total. Point being we don't just depend on those two.
I watched the extended highlights of the Leeds game and I thought Bundu did well when he came on. I agree we need another out and out striker but we have a strong pool of players including those who don’t always start. Apart from the fact we may have turned down a bid for as much as €17m (£14.5m in Fahrenheit), the important part of what Neil Dewsnip said is that Morgan Whittaker was asked and said he didn’t want to go. Now there may be clubs out there he couldn’t refuse but I don’t think he’s looking to jump on the first gravy train that passes.
Wycombe Wanderers are making a move to sign Matt Butcher who has only 6 months left on his contract....before the window closes tomorrow.
I'm being fed rumours about: Femi Azeez - Reading attacker Lino Sousa - Aston Villa left back (on loan) They are from a source that identified Matty Sorinola and Alfie Devine shortly before deals were done.
Lino Sousa just joined Aston Villa from Arsenal going to be lent to Argyle for the rest of the season....hopefully just about to happen. 19 yr old Portuguese born left-back.....has played through the age groups for England...so he is known by Ian Foster.
Also rumours that Saxon Earley might go on loan to Stevenage for some game time. And also mentioned that Mickel Miller might be moving....but cannot find that.
I thought today was the final day and now realise it is tomorrow. Another 24 hours of bleddy torture to go then.
It has been reported that Brentford & Fulham have been told that to buy Morgan Whittaker would cost them £15 million. That is disappointing having been told by Dewsnip that Whittaker wasn't for sale.
"It has been reported" I don't believe anything I read in papers or reports anymore. There seems to be a whole host of make up artists out there who just chuck out any old crap. I would rather believe Dewsnip than outsiders. I have every faith Whittaker will still be here on Friday.
It seems to be taking a long time to orchestrate this Sousa movement................................................................................................................................................(sorry)
