ha that made me chuckle. what we need is TV replays to show if contact was made or not, some kind of hawkeye system for football showing actual line of fall compared to line without contact?
carra, there isn't a club outside the premier league who wouldn't be in for holt if he became available proven goal scorers are hard to find and his all round game is even rarer
If things carry on (Holt not getting in the starting eleven on more of a regular basis) I wouldn't be at all surprised to see him leave next summer.
hmm, certainly won't happen this season but if we stay up, logic dictates that he will be surplus to requirements when new additions come in. surely he wouldn't sign for ipswich would he? in a way it would be quite funny seeing as they all hate him! i would think he is too young for them though - only just in his 30s, a mere child...
I will just stick my oar in now i think. I think the thing that really made it a blatent dive on saturday was the fact he actually ran more towards mertesacker than the ball, he was more concerned about getting in front of mertesacker than actually keeping the ball in play. so it wasn't even a split second decision, he knew the position he needed to get into, so as to perform his dive. Regards Holt the player, of course any team would love him to sign, I know i would. I do believe that the championship is his level as it does seem he is a yard off the pace this season and isn't as effective as Morison for you guys. Regards Danny Haynes, I presume you are talking about the ball to hand incident?
IMO, Holt has settled in rather well at this level. Goals at Stamford Bridge and Anfield along with a massive goal from the penalty spot, to get a huge point at this stage of the season, against Blackburn. Morison is just playing so well, he can't get in the team.
I think I take the opposing view to most of you lot. For example, a couple of weeks ago I, along with everyone in the Barclay were screaming for a penalty when the ball dropped onto the Blackburn defender's arm. To our amazement the ref signalled for a penalty! Everybody near me was in complete agreement that it was never a penalty so by default does that make every fan who shouted that day a cheat too!!! Trying to influence the ref is an acceptable part of the game nowadays. Has it always been like that? Probably not when good old fashioned fair play and standards were in place. Unless you can invent a totally foolproof instant replay system that takes out the cheating once and for all then you just have to accept that it is part of the fabric of modern day football. After looking at the Paul Lambert youtube video of him diving for Celtic, he can hardly have a go at Holty for falling down too easily can he!!! In this day and age some you win and some you lose, some the ref cocks up and sometimes you get a break. Its what makes football what it is because there is always a human element to it and all humans try to stretch the rules as far as they can possibly get away with it! Thats life!
guru, i actually agree with you (apart from the daft bit about haynes) so do excuse me while i stare in amazement at hell freezing over!
More than looking foolish superman, it could have an adverse effect on you getting decisions later on in the season.
