Counter argument being not risking the medium to longer term strategy by getting sucked into what could be expensive short termism. That said if the right deal was there to be done I'm sure we would do it.
I heard it was between 1 to 1.5 million quid. Not bad business. I still think he has a future as a centre half at Championship level.
Good business all round. We get money to add to next summers budget plus save on the wages, which along with getting Ayling & Spence off the books means we'll be in a stonger position for FFP than many think. Sunderland get a player with potential who might develop into a decent player with plenty of upside if it works out.
There's alot of talk about having two shots at promotion (those being this season and next season) but I genuinely think we might be on a slippery slope if it doesn't happen this season. We won't get fees for the loan players if we stay down here. The parachute payments drop off. There are still existing transfer fees to pay off from the PL years and the biggie that everyone seems to be forgetting is the Big Kev case which is a must win case. We lose the JKA case then it's not totally unreasonable that we face points deductions. It would be incredibly Leedsy to go from Bielsa to league 1 in around 3-4 years. I'd love to join the happy clappy fans on their enjoyable Championship journey but I feel that there's much more at stake this season than first appears. Hopefully I'm wrong but we all know that if it can go wrong....
Sorry mate, I find this post laughable considering you started talking about owners that only cared about lining their own pockets. And given that the out of his depth Radz managed something Bates couldn’t. He also avoided putting us into administration
Get what you're saying but to me the JKA signing is a very expensive reminder of pushing the envelope in the January window. Turned out we didn't need him, not then and not ever. All about levels obviously but all footballers are massive millstones around your neck when you get it wrong.
You have never ever been a fan of Bielsa? Some of the best football we have ever played and a true humble gentleman. Sorry fella totally disagree.
Well fook me... Luton 3-0 up at HT against Brighton which means Everton are in the bottom 3 as it stands.
January transfer windows are incredibly difficult to get right. However, the financial impact of the JKA deal looks like a possible future points deduction. I've not been to vocal on new signings this window as the evidence suggests that we might already be on thin ice regarding FFP. As I said, hopefully I'm wrong but something doesn't feel right.
The outrage from Everton fans is funny enough. The fact they've dropped in to the relegation zone is getting to hilarious territory.
Everton should be in the Championship with us and they wouldn't be doing what Leicester are doing that's for sure. Charged twice this season because the PL bottled it last season and everyone knows it.
If and when Everton go down in May time they won't go back up that's for sure. They'll have to have a fire sale on players that have value so that means the likes of DCL and Pickford. When they rebuild it will have to be with freebies and damn cheap players. Are they going to keep Sean boy cos I'm guessing they can't afford to pay him off.
Unlikely that Everton will go down as they'd be 12th without the points deduction and are playing well enough to pick up the necessary points to stay up. However we can but hope
But if we don't go up this time around, we'll lose all our top players, because that's what Leeds do!
