I think you'd be surprised, Welcome to Wrexham and the owners' advertising touches have raised most of the money. The chance to be shown on a hit US TV show means we've been signing huge (for a club at our level) sponsorship deals and the club can't keep up with the US demand for shirts & merchandise. Ben Foster played for peanuts just for the boost his podcasts would get over there. The blokes that do our commentary on iFollow and the club podcasts are unpaid volunteers who have been doing it for years. Yes, the figures from last year sshowed a big loss, but they didn't iinclude season 1 of Welcome to Wrexham or iFollow revenues. Yes Wrexham have a bigger squad than many clubs at their level, and yes, they will be paying big wages - but the FFP regs at that level limit player wages to 50% of footballing revenue. IIRC, The Athletic surmised that Wrexham could be posting £5million profit this time (ie for last year) All that still didn't stop them getting spanked at Blackburn though!
2 championship games tonight Coventry v Bristol City Leicester v Swansea You’d have to fancy 2 home wins there.
I've never watched made in Wrexham but assume it's made for Yanks? Also Ted Lasso was huge over there so play it right with the fairytale story of two Hollywood guys buying the club and taking it to the top and the revenue would be huge for that level!
It's yank-friendly (in that it explains football) but not really aimed specifically at americans. Mostly it looks at the human side of being Wrexham players and fans. It is worth a watch because the overseas converts mostly say it is the human aspect that got them hooked. Of course, it lacks the iconic theme tune of STID
