Ange has said it’s unlikely the club will sign anyone else this window. Good enough for me. Although won’t stop the likes of Sky or Talksport faking stories that ‘Spurs are set to sign ?? on deadline day’
I think with the fact Sarr is already back and the injuries seem to be clearing up (hope I’m not tempting fate now), and we only have 17 games left, there is no point rushing into any more signings unless it’s a signing to loan straight back for a player for the future. When Son returns there is no real reason to alternate the team, barring injuries. We need to go full strength every match and see where we end up. Then we can regroup and go again in the summer depending whether we have champions league football or not.
It would have been nice to move a couple of players on permanent deals. We've had a backlog of unwanted players who we've been kicking down the road with loan after loan and it will come back to bite us (again) in the summer.
I agree as a best case scenario but I think timing has been against us. With Bissouma away and GLC injured again for example it’s a hard sell to let Hojbjerg go and be without midfield cover for a couple of important weeks. Same with Gil, though I think we’re more open to that one. With Solomon out and Son away we don’t have many bodies in though. Squad transformation was always going to take time and I imagine there’s a pretty clear picture within the club of who will be moving on in the summer.
It is always harder to secure permanent moves in January and I've been struck by how quiet this month has been compared to others. But with no cups to play for and players returning from injury and internationals, there is every chance that Brentford is the last time Gil and Hojbjerg kick a ball this season. And with his latest injury setback, I can't see Sessegnon kicking one either.
Rashford, yes or no? He's almost certainly on his way out of United and probably Manchester and his form has - at best - been inconsistent of late. But he's always seemed like a decent lad and his recent problems out of character. He's also undoubtedly a talented player. And at his best an upgrade in our forwards. But worth the risk of a bid?
For me personally, **** no . I’ve never really rated him as a player, albeit certainly rate him as a person. Overrated reputation due to his great work for children and the fact he plays for Utd. I’d agree he’d be an upgrade on one or two of our squad players but we’d probably need to shell out silly money for him, it’d probably end up being a deal that’d have a worse outlay than Richarlison’s due to the English tax.
Hojbjerg saying he wants to stay until the summer probably put Gallagher on the backburner, unless Chelsea's accountant has some particularly grim news for them Wouldn't rule out a potential buy-and-loan-back for the remainder of the season if the right player was on our radar, but at the moment the various names who would fit that profile seem to be headed elsewhere - or were set to head elsewhere before it turned out they're held together with gaffer tape
Haha...the 'noises off' are that United will be shifting him out smartish - and prepared to take a hit in the fee. Will be interesting to see how things develop over the next few days
I think they’d need to take a huge hit too. Europe’s skint as it is and I don’t see anyone seeing value in Antony at even half of what they paid. Apparently the Utd scouts valued Antony at around £25m before they signed him. Talk about not listening to your scouting department and paying ridiculously over the odds!
Wages would be too much. As a LW he wouldn’t get in ahead of Son although he’s better than anyone else in the squad who can play there He’s not an out and out ST either so wouldn’t go for him.
no for me he’s not as good as the hype I see his non footballing antics making too many headlines for me
Here is the heuristic for any player P : 1. A domestic rival is prepared to let P go. 2. P is far from his career end, and has no cumulative/potential injury risk, 3. None of your peers/betters in other leagues are showing an interest in P. Why should Spurs consider signing P ??
Vuskovic is joining Radomiak Radom in the Ekstraklasa on loan according to Ornstein. Then expected to join a higher level loan afterwards before linking up with us in 2025.
