I know. When my dad was in Glasgow doing further training as a morse code operator awaiting a new vessel after his destroyer had been torpedoed someone noticed he had played for Leeds schoolboys and told him he was selected for a team to represent the navy at Hampden. A bit of a let down to find out it was on the pitch next to the main Hampden. it Didn’t have much luck with these things. Was picked to play in a friendship match in Naples. Unfortunately Napoli’s stadium had been bombed so it was played on another Municipal stadium which had a large crowd there but not the famous one.
Queen’s park used to play at Lesser Hampden and there is another pitch if you look at the top of that picture. Don’t know if the third one is still there.
I played Rugby League at Twickenham. Which sounds impressive until you find out there are public field rugby pitches in Twickenham!
Blackburn Rovers have made a ‘club decision’ that manager Jon Dahl Tomasson won’t speak to the press today. Sounds a little ominous.
