It depends on what is offered tbh, if someone wants to throw silly money at us and Jason and Russ feel it's right to let him go then I wouldn't be anti it completely.
Valid points from all tbh, I've just been largely underwhelmed. £30Million for example would be really hard to turn down.
He’s also one of the few players who have shown they can play in the PL (albeit only for half a season in a **** side, which could be argued makes him even better) Not many of our current squad you can say that about.
Yep, pretty much him and KWP. THB most likely can, but has yet to do so. I suppose Stuart Armstrong as well.
Yeah was thinking KWP and Alcaraz are the only ones. Adams has shown he can do a job but not exactly great. Stu I’m not sure about based on the last season or 2 in the Prem, same with Bednarek. Fraser in that group aswell if we make the deal permanent, he hasn’t played much but not sure if that is because of his ability (or ability of the other players at Newcastle) or because Howe doesn’t like him from his time at Bournemouth Bazunu, Edozie, Sulemana and THB I think can, but haven’t actually proven it yet. Then question marks over everyone else
It's the same as the Adkins promotion team, they were all a pretty much unknown quantity before they went up. Some will make it and others will fall by the wayside I guess.
Is it? A chunk of the players have already been in a team that has come down from the premier league. That wasn’t true with Adkins
Yeah, I guess i'm talking about the players that haven't really been tested at the top level yet, it doesn't necessarily mean that they "won't be good enough". Magic has been arguing all season that the players we have are too good for this league and yet he seems to be saying that only a handful will make it in the PL...
In fairness, you can be a good Championship player, and a poor Premier League player. Step forward, Adam Armstrong.
also think that we do need players who work in a slightly different system, for when we have to change ours cos it isn't working. Good to have that player who fits well into a different set up
Yeah the gulf between the PL and the Champ is even bigger than I first thought based on our side this season. Do you think we would’ve stayed up if we had this team playing in the PL last season? Can throw Martin in as the manager as well, I don’t think we would do much better than last year
Not for me, he wasn’t much good in the Championship either apart from set pieces. Armstrong has been brilliant in most games this season and scored like 2 goals in 2 seasons at PL level
Yet Bournemouth, Brentford and Fulham have found a way to survive recently, you can go a fair way with a football philosophy and great team spirit.
Oh yeah it’s not just as simple as “player x is better than player y” there are lots of other factors. Probably most noticeably is that we are a bigger fish at this level so teams set up differently against us which gives our players far more of the ball and therefore more chances to do stuff than we would get in the PL
