Yup. Two of the three losses were when they were a Championship side, too. It's not a happy hunting ground for us at all. On the injury news front, Partey is back in first-team training (until he breaks down again some point soon I'd wager).
I'm going to be copying you and doing this for every game of yours from now until the end of the season if you keep this up
30 mins gone and we've played ok, but we've not tested Turner enough. Forest are set up extremely well and their deep block is causing us issues, but we are getting a good amount of final third entries. Counter pressing is good. We've shown a few occasions how dangerous we are when we move the ball with speed and fluid rotations, but it's not happening enough. Feels like the tempo needs to be higher because it's too slow at the moment.
Zinchenko . He just completely ruined a really good passage of play which resulted in him ghosting into their box unmarked and all it required was a good final ball. Totally botches the cross and it goes out for a goal kick.
Forest are defending with so many bodies back though. They had all 10 outfield players in their box during that period of play.
Man, we've upped the ante and Forest's defenders are literally blocking everything . Have a feeling we'll need a moment of magic or a flukey goal to win. This is a nasty low block from Forest.
Ahhh almost 1-0. So close! Zinchenko fires a dangerous ball into the box, causing mayhem, Saka takes a snapshot and it deflects off Montiel who almost turns it in but just edges past the post for a corner. Unlucky.
Zinchenko whips in a good cross, but unfortunately, all our attackers are below 5'10. They're not going to trouble two 6'1+ centre-halves winning headers I'm afraid.
Chance on the edge of HT. Good cross from Odegaard, who finds Jesus and Turner tips it over. No time to take the corner as ref blows for HT. 0-0. We've clearly been the better side, but our method of chance creation, when we don't have a proper target man/aerial duel winner up top, doesn't make much sense. If this is how we were going to unlock their defence, we should have played Havertz up top. We need to move the ball faster and cause more chaos by driving at them. Too many times, players want the ball to feet and are taking the 'safe route', as opposed to crashing the box or driving at them. We need more players getting into the box especially because Forest have so many men back defending. The longer the game goes on and its 0-0, they'll grow in confidence. They've got the likes of Elanga and Awoniyi on the bench, who have caused us problems in previous games. If they come on, it'll give them a new lease of life. It's important we get a goal soon to open them up.
I've said this previously but Murillo is an incredible defender. Technically sound, but really aggressive yet composed in his challenges. He made another excellent last-ditch tackle on Martinelli to stop him from scoring.
Saka's powerful deflected strike stopped well from Turner. Game is starting to ramp up for both sides.
