    Sort of sad to read . . . .
Lynden Gooch hits out at Stoke City fans accusing him of not trying against Sunderland.

Gooch has hit back at accusations suggesting that he did not try against Sunderland last weekend.

Lynden has defended himself amid comments from some (not all) Stoke City fans following The Potters' defeat at
    Sunderland last weekend.

The American started at right-back for Stoke City in his first appearance at the Stadium of Light since joining the club from Sunderland last summer after a lengthy association with the Black Cats, which saw the player feature in the Premier League, Championship and League One.

However, following Sunderland's 3-1 win against Stoke City on Wearside, some Stoke fans accused Gooch of not trying against his former club as the full-back endured a tough time up against former teammate Jack Clarke.

On social media, Gooch said: "I’ve seen a few of these now and I feel like I need to say something. I have given everything in a Stoke City shirt since I have joined and will continue to do so. We got beat by the better team on Saturday who were more ruthless than us in both boxes."

Being assigned to mark Clarkey is never going be easy, and this is a bit unfair on Goochy :emoticon-0112-wonde

Stoke were the 1st team this season not to double up on Clarke. If the Stokies want someone to blame then they should blame the manager and his tactics

A word on Beale would be that the performance rather than the result gives hope. 3 points are great but there were signs of long term positives in the shape and all round performance that we haven't seen even in games we've won under him. A big turning point as for the first time I felt the players were truly on board with and understanding of his instructions.

A win against Boro and I could be tempted to ditch the voodoo doll <cheers>

It'll be interesting to see if the changes work when we're back to the usual marking for Clarke.

I would love to see Pembele and Ba on the right, maybe starting in a fluid 3,5,2 that can adapt as required into a 4/3/3, or even a 4/4/2 as this happens anyway in every game, so why not plan for it ?, We have some exciting versatile players in this squad , we need to accommodate them, and this could be the way . We did it against WBA and Leeds , why not try it again. Starting this weekend .

Maybe Goochie should not have come out again after his standing ovation, it said all that needed to be said. Its too easy to look back on these things and emotions are high, but how would we have felt if it was the other way round , same as the Stoke fans I would guess.
