That's wage money we could spend elsewhere.

It's the issue with football contracts. You get paid regardless of whether you ultimately do what you're paid for at the end of the week.

He's refusing to play for the club. I'd suggest we should withhold his wages

I would imagine he's worded it in such a way that it's not a direct refusal. They always do.

We've not really considered the idea that he's not right mentally. As legitimate as genuine mental health problems are, it's the new bad back for skivers, impossible to prove or disprove definitively.

Are we going to get much a fee with less than 6 months on his contract?
He wants away, perhaps he would like to rip up his contract and become a free agent.
    Perhaps not then.
I just find it strange that the club effectively gave him / his agent, 12 months to find a new club and nothing happened. Yet suddenly when the club makes an offer of a new contract there are 2 offers on the table for his services. Interesting.
I don't think any of us will ever get the full story, but football's a bit like that.
Anyway far more interested in who we are looking to bring in.

I'd be tempted to rip up his contract. He's one of the higher earners at the club isn't he? Is having him off the wage bill for six months better than holding out for a fee we might not get if the other party pulls out because of it? We could lump that saved weekly money onto Moore's offer, for example.

I don't think his agent would allow that, unless there is a far more lucerative offer on the table.
If I was cynical i'd probably add that the agent would be looking for us to pay up his contract before moving his client on.
Apologies to his agent if this is not the case and for tarring him with the same brush as some of the sharks that operate in that particular field.

I’ve been wondering where the agent has been all this time?

i know we are talking contracts, ripping them up, booting him out and away from the club but i tend to think of that lazy fecker rodwell and how hard it was to get rid of him...although i understand he managed to do just barely enough so the club could not do that, footballers and contracts certainly appear to be on a different level.

i also understand the club would prefer a fee (obviously) but due to pritchards actions would it not just be better to agree to rip the contract up and just let him go?, my thinking is that he is, in footballer terms, an old man and only has 6 months of his contract left, so just getting him off the wages for 6 months would not be a great deal away from the money we could get.

Just read what they've said after you brought it to my attention, what they are saying is nothing to do with the duties of MB. Im not a lover of him but we have to be giving him a chance, I'm also hoping that he comes good and that liverpool do come calling as it means he's done an accepptional job with us

I've seen all kinds of excuses for what Pritchard's doing and none ring true.

He's been disrespectful to the supporters which is exactly what Alex Neil did ...

... I doubt either will be forgiven irrespective of what whinges they have about control or contracts, boo hoo.

    On the other hand ...

Handed poorly but it's exactly this. Didn't get fined. Minimal fee and sorted elsewhere.

He just looks perfectly at home on the pitch doesn't he and this is the Championship having never played adult football. I honestly believe he could drop into a club like Brighton and not look out of place.

If the club had encountered difficulties with Rigg, and he'd gone on strike, I'd have had serious worries about the club ...

... as it's someone who clearly an awkward character it's a relief he's gone.

If he negotiates the way he plays, which is a nightmare for opponents, I wouldn't want to be on the other side of the table, you'd need some serious shinpads <laugh>
