Maidstone I believe has a prison?
Well Maidstone FC has taken the opportunity to put some money in the bank! and get their act together by using the FA CUP get out of jail...... !
todays result will see them already have a rosy bank balance of circa £500k... they must [ deep down ] know that to progress further is almost an impossibility... so need see in the draw Man city/ Chelsea / Villa / Newcastle/ Man utd / Liverpool drawn at home and number 9 drawn to play them! [ subject to results ]..

this would guarantee £1m plus in the kitty overall .

City already have banked CIRCA / close to this amount should they lose against NF.

Cup runs have been a bit sparse for minnows in past few years so good to see Maidstone grabbing what they can

A truly lovely story of giant killing proportions if ever there was one. I have vague memories of my uncle Bobby taking me to the Huish Park in Yeovil to watch one of their cup successes back in their early days and truly the only thing I remembered was the noise as it was my first football match. The monies they will earn from this success will see them well for the immediate future and beyond. Well done Maidstone Utd and please don't pull us out of the hat for the next round.

Yeovil were known as the giant killers for years. It was attributed to their sloping pitch.
They seem to have lost that reputation of late.

I went to Huish Park several times after my young life visit and was surprised that the authorities allowed such a weird pitch to be used where the corner flags on one side of the playing area was noticeable from the moon because it was about 8 feet higher than it's opposite counterpart. There was no problem getting the ball from a corner kick to meet the heads of players in the penalty area and that was a huge advantage for Yeovil which they used to their own success. Plastic pitches, when they were allowed, took several teams to the top division only to be relegated when they were forced to dump them as they were too much of a game changer. Oldham and Luton were 2 teams that come to mind during that time but now the Hatters are back with a slightly better pitch but still have a lousy stadium whereby you have to go through someone's living room to get to your seat. Not true I know but close thereto.

Didn’t Crystal Palace have a plastic pitch for a while too?

QPR, Oldham Preston and another. Dont think it was Crystal Palace as Charlton played there for years as well.

Several league pitches in Scotland are also artificial with Kilmarnock and Livingston having them in the SPL

The newer artificial pitches are light years ahead of the previous versions and seem to be way better for the game to flow properly unlike before where bounces were the visitor's worst nightmare. I had the opportunity to visit Ohio State University stadium and was allowed on the field to play a little touch football and was shocked when I hit the ground and realised I was actually on concrete with about 1/8 inch carpet - ouch, but that was back in 1977 so what did you expect? I can't say I am a fan of artificial turf because the sport should be played only on natural turf. On the subject of turf back in the day I was asked to set up a new team called "Andover Turf" and we were sponsored by (guess who) and were given a playing field on which to play our matches. The only problem with the pitch was that is was shaped like a concave dish with all 4 corner flags were considerably above the centre spot and eventually so many opponents complained that we had to find a new home venue. When we showed up for our first few games the centre spot was generally under water and that's what led to the change of venue.
