Match Day Thread WATFORD v SOUTHAMPTON FA CUP

Yes...a good game.... and shame about the replay... . but lots of good performances..........

 

If only we had put away one more of those 1st half chances. But I suppose Southampton would have brought on their big guns earlier had we done that.

 

Mattie Pollock played well enough I thought to ask an extra thousand or two for the transfer price.

 

Good first half with decent chances created .

Game changed when Southampton brought on their first choice attack and we suffered with our subs .

Probably lose the replay - saves being hammered by Liverpool though!

 

Saints fans saying they would rather lose the replay than get a hammering.

 

Dennis is not match fit

 

And not have an extra game.

 

He tried to outrun a defender at one point, but couldn't. At his best he would have been away.

 

Not sure if that was disappointingly unsurprising or unsurprisingly disappointing.
A bit of both.

 

Granted it was entertaining enough.

 

And he won't be by Wednesday - as VI said, probably a couple of weeks away, so am not sure why he was included today.

Yes remember Richard Lee saved 2 penalties there once !

 

Last few years it seems to be a draw or defeat at our place for them and the reverse at theirs

We won two nil there when we went down two years ago

 

I still fondly remember our first away match in the top flight when we wiped the floor with them 4-1. The locals were not best pleased...

Yes particularly as it seemed he had a bad experience outside the ground and ticket office as many fans have !

We played well for an hour but tbh think if Southampton had played a stronger team from the start they would have won .

 

A really good read...i guess it is as much about the club and the ground as the game... but gives you a real sense of a visitor to the ground
