We’ve got them pointed at Belfast and Edinburgh. No one will dare vote for independence and break up our Kingdom.

    Well worth the money, imho.

I don't know tbh. If we don't need them then what difference does it make? Maybe I'm being naive.

But at least we save wasting £130bn on something we don't need. Use that money on something far more useful. Or as brb has said money we don't have anyway.

Yeah, but Westminster doesn't want direct control, DUP throwing their rattle out of the pram, staying in the Union is all that matters to them. EU etc don't care

They're in a no win position they're just too stupid or stubborn to see it. Carry on banging on about the GB/NI border and wanting a better deal is pointless. And not having a functioning NI parliament means any idea of maintaining a union is over.

Did anyone ever bother telling the DUP that the English don't care about them. Isn't it time they woke up and smelt the coffee, there is more to be gained from a United Ireland then there is to some prehistoric Union that should have been dissolved decades ago. Another good example why Federal States and Unions cause nowt but trouble in the long run - they all seem good for a while but as the DUP have proved, it eventually comes down to nothing more than power. NI is nowt but an irritating thorn in our side and has been my entire life.

Amazing aint it all the ****e everyone went through in the 80's and 90's and no one gives a **** now. Well apart from the DUP.

Maybe it's a generational thing. Approx 25 years of peace and ppl have just moved on and mostly don't hold on to the animosity or importance of the past. That's just a guess, I might be wrong I don't live there.

Whether you like him or not Tony Blair and Labour's victory in 1997 was the best thing that happened in Northern Ireland, landslide victory and put an end to Tories swinging and relying on DUP votes.

That's it exactly as you say, 25 years of peace a new generation born and an old generation lost, what was back then has moved on in life. I've said this before, the DUP are nowt but a preshistoric dinosaur and that's me being nice about it. The world is revolving and the DUP are just stagnant in time. It's people like Sammy Wilson, that I imagine if I stepped into their world, I'd be transported back to the 1970's, now there is some good things from that Era but the troubles is not one of them, so about time he chucked his old sofa on the bonfire and moved into the 21st Century like everyone else has to.

I’m a unionist but I actually agree with this. They can still bang the drum for their cause but without the hostility and divisive politics that they cling to.

My impression is they know this is only going one way and they'll just let it take its natural course. A number of unionists do as well by the looks of it.

Exactly, I've got no problem with unionists much like Scotland and Wales, they have to make their own choices, but the DUP are nowt but a headache and they need to put a sock in it. Just get on with it and what will be will be, they are not going to stop the clock, no matter how much they cry about it. There's a big stretch of tears (water) between us and them, which is one main difference to others in the Union.
