Many trips ... always 'fun' ... one year (80s) we walked into a pub opposite Leicester Station (Golden Hind) to get a morning beer before the train - was packed and saw a few lads from area I lived in (the Saffron Lane) - told us the whole lot were getting the train that got to Derby at something like 5 past 3 and said we should too ... literally were about 300 'naughty boys' on that train - police had left the station - the ground was not far away - as we went down through the streets a lone Derby fan (in his 20s I'd say), late for the game, came round the corner repleat with scarf ... the look on his face will always stay with me - big roar went up and we started to chase him - never seen a man run that fast outside of an athletic's track - everyone was laughing, no intent to actually catch-him ... police descended on us from everywhere as we got to the ground - they were very angry - guy in charge must have got a rollicking - got in the ground fine - probably lost - we were pretty **** back then
nah, the old den, had a floodlight in the middle of the away end, couldn;t see more than half the pitch at a time.
It the cricket pitch that's confusing - and why I thought Bramhall Lane ... been through most county cricket grounds in my head but some get played at secondary venues ... Not Hull?
