Thank god Ed Woodward at Utd did a Gerald Ratner when trying to persuade Klopp to join as manager. Klopp’s greatest gift for me is he understands people, be they supporters or players. He has a charm and charisma that is spellbinding. We see so much fakeness around and he stands out as being genuine.
Oh crikey, I'm bricking it, I'm telling you: there are not many (any?) managers that could get what Klopp has got from our parsimonious owners. It has to be soul-destroying for him to know that we've got 90+ points for three seasons and only have one title to show for it. Where do you go to from there? Either we spend like City (not with these owners, even if that's wise anyway), or you drag City down to everyone else's level by getting the rules to be applied - and then they just punish the likes of Everton and Forest. And besides which, the media in this country - the way he was vilified after the PGMOL atrocity at Spurs for daring to suggest there should be a replay, whilst making it abundantly clear he neither expected one to happen nor thought it was even feasible, is utterly puke-inducing given that the same pundits and journos are falling over themselves to eulogise him now (that is, until he dares complains about refs and decisions again). And that's what I fear - who has the package to take on stingy owners, a trenchantly anti-Liverpool PGMOL (especially now Webb is back in charge), and hostile media playing to a gallery of spastical trolls like those who spread all over social media after the Paris final similar to a case of dysentery? There'll be plenty who want it, but they should maybe heed the experience of Brendan Rogers who was promised Sanchez by FSG when Suarez went - and got Balotelli instead. Winter is coming.
I'm old enough to have seen Shankly and Paisley bow out from our club and everyone in between including great players as well and as much as I love Jürgen and everything he's done for us I know we will get past this major hurdle and come out the other side.As Jürgen said 'it's not how I'm welcomed to the club but what is said when I leave'( sic).
I remember a similar end-of-the-world feeling when Shankly left, but we went on to even bigger and better things. There was continuity then though, not the complete turnover of top-level coaching staff that we're going to get this time.
Thats what I will miss the most about klopp, not just the great football he gave us or the trophies and unforgettable memories or the potentials he turned into superstars but his energy and his closeness to his players, ill miss his honesty but probably most of all his connection to the fans and how he made them part of the team again, the minute he arrived he showed his natural understanding of what this club is really about and what it should be Be a miracle to get all that again in a new manager but it is what it is. Sad day
Gutted. But he was always going at some time. At least he leaves on a high whatever happens this season. He will leave a very good team and as important a good unified squad. No reason why we wouldn't remain at the top and challenge for titles with a manager willing to continue in his style rather than starting from scratch.
I think the pessimism is rather overdone. Of course we're all gutted he's going after this season. But its better for a change to happen when things are going very well rather when things are so bad that a change had to be forced upon the club. All we need is a smooth seamless transition.
Rumour is that no one is lined up to replace Klopp as manager. This is reported in BBC Sport this morning, I don’t know where they got that information. If true, it suggests FSG have not known about this for very long as they would already have feelers out for a replacement. We always knew the day would come when Jurgen Klopp would leave LFC, we just didn’t expect it this soon. Whatever happens between now and the end of the season, he has given us some of the greatest moments at LFC, it is like losing a good friend, sadness but great memories
Or maybe just no-one is confirmed yet. Two of the most mentioned names are Alonso and de Zerbi; they might want to see how they got on for a bit longer, or maybe the managers want to concentrate on their current teams for now.
