My main worry is next season will be more fixtures and the squad will likely suffer more injuries that they have this season. I get top 4 is vital for income and reputation etc but realistically not ever gonna win the league or CL so need to prioritise the domestic cups
For me it’s season over as there’s nothing left to win now. As I explained above, I get why top 4 is the target but I don’t care about balance sheets or financial forecast (obviously don’t want the club to go bust) I want to see Spurs win some trophies. Yes the style is an improvement on previous managers but that’s not enough, not for me anyway. To dare is to do.
Poch ultimately didn’t win anything either. Good football and exciting to watch is nice but ultimately the results judge the manager. Just need to win a pot of some sort and then it could be good times ahead.
We all feel the same but you have to put this into context, we were playing City. It’s not like we were at home against a lower premier league team or championship team. we are doing things the right way and it was never going to happen overnight with Ange. You can see what he is trying to do and right now, and especially in this game, we don’t have the quality to pull it off. But I feel confident that we can end the season strongly and then have a good summer transfer window and really go for it next season. We won’t have the Afcon or the Asian cup either so hopefully can have a really strong team out every week. Keep the faith!
I think building the squad will take about another 12-18 months but I’m really happy with how close we are at having a great first XI. 100% with you on the latter though, I’d sack off top four every day of the week if it guaranteed us just the League Cup, let alone FA Cup. Nothing has come close to the joy of when I was at Wembley when we beat Chelsea.
The only other point of note is that the thing I have said all season : the appalling refereeing of 1st half fouls against Spurs. Today Citeh committed 11 1st half fouls. That is effectively one foul committed by every player on the pitch, and is unacceptable for no cards to be shown. I accept the life maxim that often in life the only reward you get for doing the "right thing" is knowing you do the right thing, but I am getting sick and tired of Spurs keeping their discipline while the opposition go unpunished to "allow the game to flow" .
They have the strongest squad in Europe...their replacements are top class. How we play regardless of which players are missing says everything about our improvement this season

Definite improvement from last season (especially the second half) but to be out of both cups so early is disappointing, especially as no Europe gave the club the chance to really go for it.
Yeah losing to City is to be expected but I felt the performance was timid tonight. How long was it before the first shot by Spurs? The League cup exit still stings and that was definitely a winnable competition.
Tierney's reffed City 30 times. They've won 26, drawn 2 and lost 2. He was in charge of our League Cup Final against them in 2021. You know, when Laporte should've been sent off and then scored the only goal. Some say that he's the reason Klopp's leaving. Regardless of any conspiracies, he's ****ing ****. A Manc shouldn't be refereeing a Manc team, either. He claims to support Wigan, but nobody supports ****ing Wigan!
