No need to get all touchy lads. I was just wondering why you sounded like the West Country even though you're the other side of the Island. Not having a go.

I can understand where you're coming from regarding this.

If you watch a tv programme called "The king's Men", with David Jason, you'll find it's all about the Sandringham estate workers fighting in WW1.
The sad thing is, that all the actors who try to put on a Norfolk accent, actually sound as if they are indeed from the West Country.

If you listen carefully, and I mean listen NOT hear (there is a difference), you will actually realise that in fact the Norfolk accent is quite different from the West Country.

If a person can not really tell the difference, then I suppose it could always be put down to deafness or ignorance

Swords, the accents are similar in much the same way as people from Dublin sound like people from Belfast.

    Hope that helps! <laugh><ok>

Indeed. Given our modest achievements he must have overseen more memorable Rangers games in the last 10 years than all other refs combined. Should be a feisty one.

It is interesting how similar they are though, considering the geography. I can tell the difference easily, but I have lived in Somerset and East Anglia. There's even a fair difference between Suffolk and Norfolk accents. But I can understand how the untrained ear could hear them the same.
