Well I counted myself as a supporter, but it's difficult to judge an atmosphere if your not there and only have match reports or limited highlights
first home game i am not looking forward to at all hopefully we got to be better than Hull game but not confident that Beale can change things
That's fair enough ... ... so your actual knowledge of the various atmospheres, at Sunderland, is fairly limited. What period does it cover?
I'm bowing out now, don't want to derail the match thread. Happy to continue being questioned on a different thread though
Fair enough mate. I was doing a work thing today and the lad over the table from me was my age and a Gillingham fan. That brought some ****e memories back. He was revelling in the Cascarino memories. Walked out of the ground that night thinking it was the end of us. It wasnt, we went on to have a magic team and memories. I think back and the atmosphere wasnt bad per se, just gutted. But we were gutted together. Feels like at the minute we arent gutted, just angry. There is a difference, and I am not sure we have any right to be angry personally.
I was there, at the away game and at home ... we were relegated to the third division but we were Sunderland supporters together. This all feels like we're being attacked from within, it's quite grubby tbh.
Right now we need fans that want to win and want Beale to be a success. Remember Man City away when we were relegated. Honestly lads, that is what being Sunderland means to me. Odda stacked against us but we went and gave it all we have. Almost got the lads over the line as well. This is nowhere like that, lets absolutely roar them on for a few weeks and remind all other clubs we are here always.
A day that everyone present can be rightly proud of after all these years ... ... the current support probably can't contemplate that tbh.
Maybe the mods could do something about the posters who've spent the last week attacking anyone who doesn't have the same opinion. Otherwise you end up with a discussion board without anything to discuss.
I think we need something to cling to against Stoke. Just a sign that Beale has something to offer here and isn't a backwards step.
Mowbray lost to Stoke and our performance was pitiful, I was there ... .... how confident would we be if Mowbray was still here?
