Suspect we are just trying to see if we can get them to up it a bit but I suspect, if not, we will go for it anyway. He has at most 1 year left on his contract, and probably only 6 months. Its what we paid for him, so we would recognise at least £8million as profit and free up a £120K/week wage spot. It would be silly not to take it.
Bad idea to sell our best player in January. Our main source of creativity. Keep him and sell in summer.
I read it as either a 2.5year or 3year contract which was signed in Jan 2022, so it expires in either June 2024 or Jan 2025.
It was extended last year, so it now runs to end of 2024-2025 season. I'd certainly still consider any decent offers, but having the extra year on the contract helps our position in any negotiations - and means there is no rush to cash at any price.

"I am really pleased to welcome Kieran to Newcastle United. I have long admired his abilities and have followed his career, so when the opportunity arose to secure him, we didn't hesitate," said Howe. "He's come for the club and for the challenge that the team faces at the current time, but also the longer-term vision, so I think that's a massive thing for the football club." please log in to view this image IMAGE
They were horrific errors mind, just sayin. I'd tend to agree although until we get a better left back i'd probably play them both, one of them at left back.
We should have this written into all the players contracts. With a weekly pay deduction for each error made.
If the same principle were applied to Chippy's work contract, we'd see far fewer pics of foreign bogs and pints of beer in the sun.
Looks like Bayern Munich have ended their interest in Trippier and Almiron has said he doesn’t want to leave. Think we might have ****ed up here.
Not much they can do if Miggy has said no tbh, not ideal but not the clubs fault. trippier on the other hand, fantastic player and worth having around but that would be the one that make me think we've hada bit of a mare with. £12m for a 33y/o who's best days are coming to an end would have been a very good deal imho and I'd have snapped their hand off but equally if Howe has said "Don't sell" then I trust him to know better than me. Maybe the train of thought is something along the liens of we can get £12m now or £8m in the summer and we'd rather keep him for 6 months.
Good to see Willock and Barnes on socials saying "back soon" - much needed boost to the squad. Murphy won't be far behind and Targett was in the gym with Barnes the other week so probably a few weeks behind, Wilson also due back soon so fingers crossed we will have a fully fit squad bar Tonali, Joelinton and Anderson in a few weeks time while only having one game a week going forwards plus any FA Cup games we have (which will be ideal for getting the recently returned some good game time). Hopefully this little break will have done them all the world of good and we can really kick on for the last 18-22 games of the year.
