Brook is a big loss as he plays spin well and epitomises the aggressive approach to batting, but the batters will still go for it. And if you’re only going to survive 60 overs on a turning pitch, you might as well score 300 as be bowled out for 150. I hope Bazball will put the Indian spinners off when bowling into the rough outside the leg stump. If you get dispatched for 4 or 6 on a regular basis it’s hard to keep bowling there, even if the chances of a wicket remain high. It shouldn’t be boring. Don’t bother getting up early for days 4 and 5.

Entirely predictable - same thing happened to other players including Saqib Mahmood and Usmsn Khawaja. Perhaps Kohli’s visa application could be delayed next time India play here to make a point? Got his visa now though at last. He probably wasn’t going to play but England should at least have had the option

Just as well, cos the middle order of Root, Bairstow and Stokes managed just 152 in 6 innings - and that includes the 70 from Stokes. Averaging 25 won't win many matches!
There's a chance, but difficult to see it on a pitch that if anything is getting easier. 300 and they stand a chance, but adding another 150 looks beyond them. Damage was done in the first innings, both with bat and ball. India should probably have been restricted to 350.
Probably not buts it's better than it looked at one stage. Hopefully England can make the series competitive.
