If you never saw him play you have no right to consider yourself a true fan.

Trevor Santos you are so bitter you cannot even respect the dead. A true Rangers bigot.

Surely you all seen him play.
I just don't believe you can call yourselves Celtic fans.
When I was young boy I read about him and that night I could see him play.
All you doubting Thomases have to see on Telly or live or else you cannot picture.

Bit harsh Pud - may be a long time ago but don't you think it's a nice gesture for a former Celtic player and a treat for his family?

Bit harsh to think you have finally decided to have his funeral 76 years late <ok>

Cossy. I think there are quite a lot of Celtic players over the last 10 or so years you have never seen but you still call yourself a fan.

I agree that it couldn't be considered as 'necessary' but it is a decent, warm-hearted gesture which I'm sure is welcomed by his family (something which some of these Rangers fans on here wouldn't understand as the concept of 'family' is probably totally alien to them).

That is a little unfair EC. Rangers fans love their sisters and their mothers......and she loves them too.....

I am disgusted at myself for telling that joke. Even as my fingers moved inexorably towards the keyboard, I knew I was doing a bad thing.

The Celtic graves society don't just exist to have these ceremonies, the graves they tend to have often fallen into disrepair, or are unmarked. I think that is a valuable part of our history.

I recommend the Celtic Underground podcast number 100 to give a background to it all. It is fascinating stuff.
