Good Morning. It's Tuesday 23rd January, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road

Is Gnonto being rewarded for dumping agent

Wilfred Gnonto is close to agreeing a new contract at Elland Road, amid rumours of a rift between him and his agents Vigo Global Sport Services Srl.

Gnonto's behaviour last Summer left a lot to be desired. His request for a move to Goodison Park was repeatedly denied, leading to the 20yo going on strike. Reading between the lines, it looks very much like he had been advised very badly, and is now being rewarded for dumping his agent.

According to Transfermarkt, the Italian International is Vigo Global Sport's second hottest commodity behind Villa forward Nicolo Zaniolo; losing him will be a massive loss.

Gnonto looked certain to leave Elland Road this month, and had been linked with moves to Everton, West Ham, Roma and more recently a loan to buy agreement with Lazio. By signing new terms, it will once and for all put an end to all the speculation.

Points shared in top of the table clash

Jeremy Sarmiento's last gasp strike earned Ipswich Town a share of the spoils last night against top of the table Leicester City.

The Foxes has gone ahead on the half hour mark when former Leeds rookie Leif Davis once against turned the ball into his own net, much to the delight of the home crowd.

The form guide (which includes the 4-0 drubbing at ER) shows Ipswich in 15th place, with seven points from their last six games. Southampton top the list with sixteen points from a possible eighteen, whilst Leeds are third on twelve, ahead of Leicester City in fourth who have a point less.

The Whites are now five points behind Ipswich Town, who moved back up to second spot on 59 points. Saints drop to third, still four points ahead of Leeds.

Spurs set to hike up fee for Rodon

Multiple media sources are suggesting that Tottenham Hotspur could hike up the fee for wantaway defender Joe Rodon, amid claims Leeds would like to make the deal permanent!

It has been suggested that the 26yo would love to end his three and a half year nightmare, and sign for the Whites on a permanent basis, but reports from North London indicate they want between £15m - £20m!

He joined the North London outfit from Swansea City during the Summer of 2020 for a fee of £11m, but has only made fifteen appearances. On top of that, he only has 16 months left on his contract.

Morning all. After near tropical weather in Leeds back to wind and rain here today. I hoped Leicester would have held on for a win as they’re home nd dry despite what you might want to believe. Another must win game tomorrow night for us. Not excited about Gnonto. Don’t think he’s that great to be honest

    Morning all.

Gnonto for his status as a first team player probably deserves a new contract, especially as the one he intially signed will have been quite low salary wise and propably why there was a big push by his agents to get him out the door last summer.

Does he deserve one overall considering his behaviour is a different question, however if we want to maximise his worth then getting him to stick around and improve his performances on the pitch would definitely be the way to go.

I'd certainly keep Wober. He's one of Borussia Mönchengladbach's best 5 players.

Why on earth would we sell him for peanuts, especially when he's only 25, and has 3 and a half years left on his contract.

Take Rodon as an example. Spurs are looking to almost double their money even though they judge him not good enough, and he has less than 18 months left on his contract.

Rodon is class at this level. He doesn't suit Postecoglus style at Spurs as he likes fast centre halves. Doesn't mean he couldn't operate in a lower PL side if we got up. Just hope that not knowing what each of the rats end up doing at end of season doesn't mess up our transfers completely

Kalvin Phillips to WHU on loan with an option to buy in June.

Wober is a FARKE type player as he likes players to be able to double up on positions. Wober can play either LB or LCB but if we are still in the championship his value is reduced, thats just the way things are. If we go up and he carries on having a good season we will get a profit on him. I bet his contract states he can stay on loan for another year if we are not promoted

We could be in the Conference League. Wober is still a 20m player, especially with the length of his contract.

West Ham paying his full wages too, sounds like they are very keen indeed. Does anyone know if we have a sell on clause if it's made permanent in the summer?

Their fans are always going to see him as the cheap Declan Rice, I would imagine he will struggle to settle

From talking to someone in the game a few years back, it seems virtually all sales have a sell on clause, even in the lower leagues.

Bit sad that KP left for bigger and better things but ended up at West Ham.

Shame as he would have been one of our biggest legends ever but gave it all up for nothing more than a few extra quid, some totally undeserved medals and looking ridiculous because Pep wouldn't have picked him even if he was the last player on earth.

Don't know about a legend at our club, he wasn't that good, that's why he's now on a downward spiral

As a local lad who came through the academy and represented England at major finals his legendary status was guaranteed as long as he stayed as a one club man.

Personally I blame Marcos for telling him he could leave <whistle>
