£35m to upgrade a second choice RB that doesn’t really fit the system? That’s only £5m short of what we paid for our first choice RB that fits the system. Like King said Emerson can do a job no doubt, but “extremely useful squad option” is being very generous. He struggled big time at CB for most of his games for us. Being able to play in multiple positions and being able to play well in multiple positions are two different things, Davies can do as such, Emerson not so much. If we could recoup our money, I’d have all the faith in Lange and co to sign a replacement for similar money that’d give Porro some real competition.
Only a really silly money offer should tempt Levy. With the injury plague as is + a CL slot up for grabs, now is not the time to ditch committed squad players who the current manager is happy to use.
Ben Johnson is out of contract in the summer at West Ham. Now I'm not saying hes a world beater but can do a job and is HG. Sell Royal and offer West Ham a few Mill.
Yeah Hojbjerg is in the same bracket as Emerson for me. Gil I think is done at Spurs, he’s just not made any sort of impression and I don’t think Ange rates him. The sensible thing would probably be to keep hold of Emerson and Hojbjerg until the summer but you never know.
It wouldn't surprise me if Hojbjerg left this month, given Juve and Napoli keep being linked with him Juve being linked also means we can play the FFP Shuffle with them, so if there's a Gallagher-like player in their squad they need to offload...
Dan KP’s said we’re still in talks with Brugge for Nusa. Also says Al-Nassr are considering a second bid for Emerson, first was around £20m.
Wow if we get Nusa that would be a 10/10 window for me. The Norwegian is a phenomenal talent. Im a fan of Emerson. Good defender with a fantastic attitude and well liked at the club. We won’t get a better squad player than him. I believe we will then need 3 players to have a fantastic squad . LB to cover Udogie (Sess could be that player but he’s never fit) A number 8 to compete with Pape Sarr. CF to possibly replace Richy. Offload Rodon, Sess, Reguilon, Ndombele, Gil and possibly Richarlison. Intergrate Phillips and Devine into the squad .
Some far and away sources are saying we might be scouting Sebatsian Szymanski of Fener in upcoming games. 9 goals and 9 assists in the league this season for them, plays as an AM so possible Maddison competition. Like I said though, far and away sources.
Ally Gold’s said we’ve had an interest in Noel Buck of New England Revolution. American born but played for England youth via his dad. 18 year old CM, potentially available for £6m if we do follow up any interest.
Romano says that Atletico Madrid are preparing their own bid for Arthur Vermeeren Somebody get him on a Zoom call with Ange PDQ!!!
I think we may be facing some serious competition if Warner Bros are looking to recast The Joker again please log in to view this image please log in to view this image
Been pondering this for a bit ... If the finances + short-term squad strength are sound, I would like to see Levy punt to buy both Nusa and Vermeeren, with immediate loan back but with a view to take them for the 2025-26 season. That IMHO would build strong good will with both the selling club and the player (the gossip that Nusa is not keen to leave his club right now etc) , and allows the manager to do some forward planning for what their squad will be,
Word out of FootballDotLondon today says Vermeeren isn't likely to leave Antwerp "yet" Possibly gives us a week or so to fully weigh up Vermeeren or Wharton as the best option for a January landgrab
Al Nassr have switched attention from Emerson to Wan Bissaka. That’s now more or less guaranteed we’ll be loaning him out from probably next January, possibly even the summer because no one else will have the money to buy him once we bring in another FB to properly compete with Porro.
Simon Jones (Daily Mail though…) is saying there’s interest in Sessegnon. Keen to know if the interest is from physiotherapists or football clubs.
One interesting thing to note is we seem to be building up a Plan B this window Dragusin's the obvious example (what with us signing him and all...) because he will ping balls over the top while Romero and Mickey Van play it on the deck, and I've certainly seen clips of Cesar Romero's Joker pinging balls over the top from the edge of our third...though in that case it's just as likely that is a damning indictment of how little pressing MLS midfields deign to do
