I would strongly suspect that the first penalty applied will be awarding of costs so city have to pay for these years and years of lawyers. Of course city will contest that (people say there's no right of appeal after this commission. there's ALWAYs the courts.)

I'd strongly suspect a massive fine in the order of 100mil. Again city will contest it strongly.

I sincerely doubt they will do much else as the revenues have to be really proven as fake and the account shave to be shown to be lies.

This is fundamentally different to everton or forest as both clubs gave the prem acounts showing their breach and tried silly schemes to move stuff about to avoid penalties.

the non cooperation charges should absolutely hammer citty but i really doubt the prem has the balls to drop a 50 point deduction on city.

I took that as a season ban type approach.

I suppose the PL, Championship and Football Leagues are all supposed to be different entities so could theoretically mean relegation if expelled from the PL and therefore they get put into the Championship

 

I think City would prefer to be relegated, if just one level, because it means one season not being able to compete. 114 points deducted means two seasons not being able to compete.

I think 30 point deduction for four years would be better and more fitting if they couldn't relegate as the punishment would sting for a long time.

It's not the PL dropping the points deduction, it's the independent commission. If the PL put the case in the hands of an independent panel then they surely can't go against whatever punishment they come up with.

People talk about this as if it's a kind of court case but it isn't. There will be no back and forth with questions and answers by the 'prosecution' and 'defence'. It will be a thorough investigation and witnesses ie possibly club owners and/or their representatives, possibly Mancini and possibly players named in the double payments charges, will give their side of whatever 'misdemeanors' are found against them. City's lawyers will give a statement but won't be involved like they would be if it was a court case.

If you look at Everton's punishment and the reason for a sporting penalty then we should expect the same kind of punishment for city, but much harder.

unless there's actual paper trail of illicit payments to mancini and players like aguero and toure and silva them that will come to nothing.

no independent panel can sit and drop a 150million pound decision on a company and not expect to be taken straight to court unless it applies rigour.

if the uk government have never looked at mancini despite this cade being known for what 6? years now than its a joke. if he was being paid for services to uae under the table in uae bank outs while resident in the UK and didn't report the income then it's fraud.

if he reported the income and his tax affairs show massive payments by city's owners but a tiny city wage them case proven.

same for the players. if they reported all their earnings to the tax man ams paid up they are fine. if not they should have been headed to jail.

If you sign up to a league and agree to abide by the rules and regulations and part of those rules includes answering to an independent panel should the need arise, you can't just back out of what you signed up to because you don't like this part.

There is a paper trail of sorts from the hacker who broke the story. It's already been explained that while UEFA wouldn't accept the source, the PL will look at information from any source in it's effort to determine what has actually happened.

It would be a very difficult thing to organise.

a) There is a convention agreed between the EFL and Premier league. Clubs resign from the prm and apply to the ELF and are admitted in a quid pro quo for clubs who resign form the EFL and apply for the premier league. Its an archaic way of doing it but they are two entirely different "associations"

b) If a club is thrown out of the prem then there is no quid pro quo for the EFL. It has a quandary on its hands. In sctoland how this was handled after rangers went bust was with a vote. vested interested fought tooth an nail to get rangers into their championship but the clubs voted by a vast majority to put them in the lowest tier.

c) "Getting placed" is a far better term than "relegated to". the efl need to arrange somehow to have 3 relegated clubs into the championship and city to find a home for too. the premier league then need to approach the efl and somehow ask for another team to make up the numbers
