How did I know you that would be your next post https://fbref.com/en/comps/10/keepers/Championship-Stats check out his save %
If you going around shouting stats you should be using them. That all you got? shots faced is highish against shots without saying if he should be saving them anyway??
Sorry, I don’t understand your post. His shots saved percentage is 73.8%, which is 3rd best in the championship , we are 6th best for goals conceded, these are pretty good stats to represent a keepers effectiveness. If you have stats to prove otherwise can you show me them ?
Using Ashton Reds link click show advanced goalkeeping you can see the XG etc for keepers. O'leary is not 3rd. Championship Goalkeeper Stats | FBref.com
so not 3rd best in the championship for shot stopping taking crosses passing but quite high for sweeping and not statistically among the best in the championship???
I wonder if we have had a look at Hardie from Plymouth. He's got a very good goal record over the past 2 seasons
from the glossary of source............... Save% -- Save Percentage Save Percentage (Shots on Target Against - Goals Against)/Shots on Target Against Note that not all shots on target are stopped by the keeper, many will be stopped by defenders Does not include penalty kicks ranked 31 out of 44!
No. There are more stats here. Championship Summary | WhoScored.com Distribution is a topical one. PS% in the link = Passing success %. Amongst the top fifteen teams in the division only one keeper has a lower PS% than Bristol City's number one. Max O'leary's passing success, the regularity he finds team mates is amongst the lowest in the division at 56%. There are keepers well above 80%, the overwhelming majority in the division are above 60% For Max O'leary to be statically amongst the best keepers in the division he has to be excelling at aspects of his game, there are no stats to support that claim.
Boro last night struggling playing out from the back with a keeper statistically a lot better on the ball statistically than O'leary statistically. Thats against the top but it shows why City will need players who are statistically good on the ball to play Manning ball as not being statistically good on the ball is always going to be a proper problem. Seen what others have put up and I think statistically you literally had no idea what you’re talking about statistically when on about your O'leary is statistically amongst the best in this division.
You still saying that Max Oleary is statistically amongst the best keepers in the div? these facts from the link you stuck up are saying way different Championship Goalkeeper Stats | FBref.com and that is a fact.
I’m saying statistics can be interpreted in many different ways, the best judge is actually watching and seeing, one thing that is fact is we are towards the top of the championship in terms of goals conceded, we’ve conceded less than most. Or are you disputing that also?. That doesn’t happen if your keeper isn’t good. I’ve highlighted several excellent saves he’s made recently to evidence my view that he’s a decent keeper. I don’t have an agenda I judge by what I see. I think he’s decent at commanding his area although it could, and is improving, I also believe he’s not as bad as many suggest at distribution, again it needs working on. He is reliant on outfield players making themselves available so he doesn’t need to result to the long diagonal to the wings, which are difficult and statistically problematic. Those are my views and nothing you or others have posted have changed them. I’m sure there are better out there but he’s a good fit for where we are. Some say if we want to progress to top 6 we need to change him. That is true of pretty much our entire squad, our resources are limited and there are far more pressing things to spend our money on. I like Max, he’s an excellent shot stopper, pretty good at commanding his area and his distribution on the whole is fine, he does wobble on this at times, but his defence/outfield players don’t help by not giving him options. He’s certainly an upgrade on Bents, and a much cheaper option, whose area command was non existent (he stayed on his line), and his distribution was no better.
I agree with Ashton regarding Max... Our position in the league (I believe we should be much higher) is not a reflection on Max's performances but more to do with not being able to score enough goals.. As Ashton says, he's a decent keeper at this level and what we can afford.. It's not a keeper we desperately need but a striker with an eye for goal...
So Max O'leary is not statistically one the best keepers in the division? Asking for another poster there. Some of Max O'leary stats your link provide show measured qualities being nowhere near the best in the championship. How do you explain that? Your interpretation was thus, player A faces ten shots and conceded one goal, and player B faces ten shots and concedes two goals, therefore player A is superior. You did not consider that player B shots where from inside the box, and player A faced shots from outside the box. If you had clicked further on the link you provided, you would have seen the XG included that highlights Max O'leary's XG. Your own link pulled your pants down. You did not understand the stats. Max 0'leary isn't close to being statistically the best keeper in the division in fact, and it is a fact, facts you provided. Where are these stats that measure any of that? Who scored who measure O'leary's passing accuracy as being below 60% = Very low,. Why? The link you provide measures passes over varying distances, And going long = Very low. Why? Because his actual technical ability is not the high. Decent keeper, but not the best, and for a team with Liam Manning's intent he has a key quality that is weak.
The best stats are eyes on, sta I put the thing about stats up because I knew certain posters would “bite”, and guess what they did. It’s all about opinions, stats really prove nothing, can be weighted almost anyway to fit a pre conceived agenda, much more accurate to use eyes on, and even the it’s subjective, some like players,,others don’t. That’s the beauty of football, we all have our opinions, no one is right, no one is wrong.
Wouldn't be the first time!! I've watched every game......In my book....he's not our weakest link and has enough credit to hold that position. Stats isn't everything either....
Lies, damned lies, and statistics Good bloke, internationally recognised squad player, over 75 games, not the best in the world but he is ok for me..
