Blackburn can't defend and where as bad as Wigan this week. Six goals in the game and all crap goals for one reason or another. To have an Allardyce set of players and not organise a defence with them is just one of the ways he is crap. But it's the bollocks he talks that gets me. Sorry mate but he is not a championship manager in my book.
Blackburn cheated this weekend with that corner. Yakubu 'touched' it. No, he didn't. Martinez took it like a man and was quite dignified, though I think both teams look doomed at the moment. Don't see really why Blackburn are struggling so much. David Dunn has been fit this season, they have Yakubu scoring goals, Pederson still does a bit when he fancies it, they have Samba (one of the best defenders in the league) and Hoilett, who really does look a class act. They should be higher up, but they're not as I suspect Kean is out of his depth.
Evidently you have to move the ball through the full length of it's circumference for it to be a "corner", if he had done that another player can take it on and score. Why Kean crowed and smirked about that bit of "clever trickery" (which wasn't done right anyway) instead of facing up to the fact played badly I don't know. He should have spent more time on basic tactics in the week than stuff like that. Although Blackburn played a good part of the game with 10 men showed up Wigan even more. Both teams seem doomed.
Both teams do seem doomed but there is a lot of football to be played between now and May! Do we think all 3 promoted teams will stay up?
I think it's really tough to tell this year. I think 2 of the 3 will stay. Gonna plump for Norwich & QPR to stay, and I think Swansea might just drop. Bottom three for me; Wolves Swansea Wigan Blackburn will sack Kean at some point and a decent manager will make better of the players in the squad. Wolves, although a battling team, I think are too prone to going on long, losing streaks and no matter how well they occasionally play, they never pull away significantly. This year they'll pay. No doubt I will turn out to be 100% wrong, more than often am at predicting things like this.
I expect something will happen at both clubs maybe, but with the Venky's it will be more by good luck than judgement. I understand their purchase of the club was backed up by future PL revenue, oh dear! At Wigan the club is probably up for sale in the background so something might happen. Both managers are fighting to be favorite for the sack, so anything could happen. Kean and Bob Martinez. It would be unique for all 3 promoted teams to stay up, but it could happen. http://www.thesackrace.com/premier-league/
I think you've misheard that, what was actually said is that someone had taken out a contract on him.
Scrap that then! I think he's the difference. If he stays, they go. If they get rid, they have a fighting chance with, to be honest, a half decent squad. I'll stick with my prediction for now and presume that sanity will take over at some point and he'll get the chop.
I saw some posts on the Blackburn site going back to August time if I remember right, saying Kean wouldn't last until the end of August (he was so bad). They seemed to think at that time he was being kept on because he would not argue with the Venky's or tell them they were not up to running a PL club; so they like to have him around. Big Sam must have given it to them straight!
I don't want to fuel the Kean debate any further, most people disagree with me and since it's not a City issue I'll leave it at that rather than bore and annoy everyone. However I think it's interesting that some people are saying he talks bollocks whereas I've always thought he's one of the few who actually says it like it is (and it's not like I'd have any bias) maybe the pressuere is getting to him lately I don't know. You'd have to admit the position he is in now must be impossible with the fans on his back all the time and what have you. I think Wigan's squad is no worse than Blackburn's but no one criticises Martinez, maybe it's because he appears to be a cool Spanish guy, or maybe because Wigan are seen as unfashionable but they have better players than some people realise IMO (still not great but better than Swansea, say). With regard to who'll go down, promoted teams are always doing well at this time of year, we did it, Burnley copied, Blackpool copied again and the new teams are doing it now. Everyone will naturally think they will all finish mid-table now but they're more likely to plummet after Christmas than the likes of Wigan and Blackburn who have a bit more depth and resilience, and as we know all to well, once the tide turns for a promoted side everything goes wrong and you suddenly realise that your Championship squad that came up are still very much a Championship squad, but flattered to decieve in the EPL for a few months. Then everyone says it was going to happen all along, even the people who were saying they'd finish mid-table months earlier when they were doing well. I can see this happening with Swansea. Norwich and QPR have slightly stronger squads but I wouldn't be too surprised to see either of them go down either.
Promoted sides usually tend to do well before Christmas as they are an unknown to a large extent. Premier League sides know very little about them and as such they take sides by surprise. In the return fixtures in the new year the sides have been able to figure out the promoted sides which is why they traditionally slide down the league. I can see Norwich staying up as they do not concede many goals. QPR don't seem that difficult to score against. I'm not sure about Swansea. I know they play attractive football I don't know if they have the resolve to grind out a result when they are not playing well
I want Blackburn, Wigan and Bolton to go down (the current bottom three) I think Bolton will survive, plus one of the other two, and Swansea and Wolves will get relegated in their place.
The reason the owners left wasn't to avoid Blackburn fans. In a way that would be understandable. But the reason given was more absurd. It was supposedly because they hadn't taken overcoats and were too cold.
