Yeah, by Berb. He said exactly the same on Saturday as well. I'd refer to what SAF said if you want a true and sensible reflection of the game. Our finishing was ****, we missed two sitters and were caught off side way too often. The Carrick and Fletcher partnership is too pedestrian for me but Carrick is starting to show some form and a bit of flair alongside him and we'd be ok. Shame Cleverly is injured. I may as well get this in now though, just in case. We'd better qualify for the next round as there is no way on this ****ing earth I want to see us pissing about in the EL. I'd rather we finished last, it's almost a shame we can't as if we don't finish top two we shouldn't have any fall back. Especially into a frankly irrelevant competition. Let City get distracted and bogged down by that pile of ****e of a tournament.
We started badly, conceding the OG, and for the first 20 minutes until we then got a grip in midfield. Dominated the 2nd half until we scored and then immediately conceded a dumb goal. Then we didn't get back on top after that. I don't remember De Gea having to make a save so Benfica didn't really have to work hard to get the draw. One of those days I guess.
No, do you? If we finish second in our group the only team I'd be confident of beating are the winners of group G. Who we'd inevitably get as it would be fixed in our favour of course. Otherwise I'd be fairly confident against Inter, plus groups E and F should the Arse or Chelsea not finish top.
In the la liga? Or do you mean we could beat them. No to both although they are second at the moment, i think they'll get one over madrid by the end.
I wouldn't go as far to say we played well but I do think we were unlucky not to win. The problem is we have set such a high standard for ourselves over the years that people are now saying were playing **** - I'd say we're below par but far from ****. It seems Fergie is in the process of building another one of his teams and this can take time. Also the same fans going on about how **** we are on here, TV and in the pub etc are the same United 'fans' who were saying this is Fergies best team ever when we were thumping everyone at the start of the season !
The voice of reason. We've not been helped by injures to Cleverly (who'd have thought it was him making us tick?) and Young, both of whom were critical to our flying start. It's clear we need some CM reinforcements though, that can't be denied, but as '****' as we are currently playing aren't you glad that it's United style ****? By that I mean '****' but still winning. Rather than Arsenal type **** (for example) , where they roll over and ****ing give up.
If they do, you'll have a choice of Bayern, Inter, Madrid, Apoel, Real. You'll probably get Marseille though, cos I bet Arsenal draw against Dortmund, finish second and get Barca again.
I didn't know either score until this morning. Manchester will be a pretty miserable place to be today. By that I mean both Manchester and Trafford. I half expected the city result, but I thought you'd win at home. I think swarbs and Rufflad will now have to start to agree with a post I made a few weeks back. You have problems and they're not the same as they were previously. You're still just about holding it together, but I'm not sure you'll be able to up the ante this time. Basel away will not be a picnic. Having said all that, you're there and we're not, so I'm not really crowing. This is actually meant to be constructive and not a wind-up. You'll probably go through on balance, but not in first spot, so as it stands, short of a major dollop of manc luck in the team you get in the first knock out stage. I don't see you going much further. You certainly won't be getting any closer to 'FIVE'
Neither do I, this is a competition I do not see us winning this year. Believe it or not, I also don't see it as that important. I know that as soon as we overtook your league record the CL became THE most important cup competition in the world anywhere, ever, but in reality it isn't. The league is. We know it and you know it. Should we progress, and I think we can get the draw needed out in Switzerland, then we need to avoid Bayern, Real or Barca, the rest we'll beat. I agree though, semi final is good for us this year.
My last line was only a joke Ruff, as you well know . The PL is the most important for me as well (and most LFC supporters), but CL is the only stick in our armoury to beat you with at the moment. My original point holds for the PL also. You will struggle to win it this season, in my genuinely humble opinion. I have a sneaky feeling we'll do you a favour on Sunday, though.
I think we will very gradually get stronger this season. You may well do us a favour, I suspect you'll get a draw to be honest. We will need to get someone for CM during the window, we need two but it could well be that we only get one with the other in summer. That way I think we're still in with a big chance, City do not know what it is like at the business end, we do. I know that is a cliche but it's a valid one. Added to that, if City do get knocked out of the CL and end up in the europa league I believe they will try to win it. Why wouldn't they, they aren't so bleeding 'massive' suddenly that they can shun trophies? The EL is their true level until such times that they actually win a league title. I think that this will cause them enough of a distraction and that we will fight them for the title till the death. We are not out of it by a long stretch. We were '****' last year too and won the league comfortably.
Hmm. Well there's still a long way to go and to coin a cliche, we shall see. I just don't think you will get stronger this time. If city do get knocked out, which I suspect they will, I believe their focus will remain fixed on the PL. They have a big enough squad to put a second string side out in the EL until the final - if they get there.
Yeah, one team for minor european competition, the other for the league. The perfect receipe for squad harmony
Even though I'd put money on utd qualifying I'm not so sure the Europa would be such a bad thing for either Manchester club this year (I don't expect the fans to accept this obviously but hear me out anyway)....yes it's been ruined as a competition but as neither team looks likely to be challenging for the Champs League on current form would winning the Europa really be worse than winning nothing in Europe? Utd have a lot of young players in the squad now with little or no European experience (Jones, Smalling, Cleverley, Wellbeck, Young etc) and City have a lot of young players who aren't going to get a sniff at the first team in Prem or Champs League games so it may just be a blessing in disguise in the long run....plus I can't imagine many of you would object to a City vs Utd Europa final if it came to it
Hold on, I thought he was a genius for rebuilding his defence!?!? Seriously though, yes we will. Although I suspect the only truly horrible little **** amongst them is Tevez and he seems to be history. Balotelli might prove me wrong though.
