Can’t blame him for sitting on the contract we gave him as frustrating as it’s been to have him sitting on high wages doing nothing.
Agreed. As much as I want him to leave for the good of the club, it makes no sense for fans to get annoyed at him. Who in their right mind would walk away from a big contract when their career is nearing its end and you are unlikely to ever get offered this sort of wage again (although that may change if the saudi links come through). Fingers crossed he goes on a free and we save a couple of million quid.
I feel like there is something in the Saudi rumours and there was back in the summer. But he didn’t want to take his young family there. Which makes sense But he’d have to have heard some pretty bad things for him and most importantly his other half to have turned down the money I can only assume was on offer I remember seeing a video about how the Saudis were having a generally tougher time enticing non-Muslim players. And Henderson has already bailed
I knew a man who was knocked over by a Saudi and broke his leg. Made no complaint to the police because it would be the worst thing to do…would get caught up in years of litigation and be prevented from leaving. Just left as soon as he could.
A colleague of mine had worked in a hospital in Saudi and was friends with 3 English nurses who were raped by Saudi security guards. The nurses reported the crime to the police and were promptly deported.
Get this over the line, then there may still be time to get someone called Hedges. Just for the underhand tobacco sponsorship....
Just want provide some balance to some of the negative comments about Saudi Arabia. I have lived and worked in Saudi for the past 3 years and have 11 years of working in the Middle East. Fantastic people, warm friendly when compared to Qatari or Emirati almost as nice as the Omani. Great to work with and the younger generation have a great work ethic. The women in particular have a real desire to succeed in the work place. Riyadh has little charm, too car orientated and not enough has been done to beautify the city, but it has an honesty about it when compared to the fake chic of Dubai. Do l feel safe here - most definitely. Would l prefer to be back in Dubai where l was for 8 years - certainly not.
West Ham have agreed a loan with option to buy deal for Kalvin Phillips. Whether they buy him or not this suggests Downes is not in their plans next season. Him and THB are absolute must-buys.
With THB the equation is simple. We go up - he signs, we don't - he doesn't. We have an obligation to buy if we get promoted and he won't be sticking around in the Championship next season regardless. Downes is less clear cut but I don't see why he wouldn't sign if we got promoted.
Not sure if already posted but what a load of crap this is: https://footballleagueworld.co.uk/southampton-target-juventus-star-in-big-money-move/ As if Saints would spend £30m on a player - we didn't even do that in the premier league
Hey, I managed to get Soule on loan (and then signed permanently) for my FM save in the Championship, so it's clearly accurate.
So Soulé is a Juventus star, who hasn't been able to find a place in the squad and is on loan to a team that sound like a chilled dessert. £30m sounds like a bargain
“To add to their already lethal forward line” Love it. Who would have thought an attack consisting of Armstrong and Che would be described as that last year.
Based on SR spending last summer I wouldn’t put it past us to spend big on players should we get to the PL again. They spent a lot on volume but if they are happier with the squad and just want a couple of additions I could see them spending a fair bit on those players, especially if we go up this year and are circa £100m up on transfers this season and have the PL money again. But yeah can’t see that happening this window anyway
