I asked the question about changing pitches.

'The transformation of football pitches from muddy, divot-strewn battlefields to lush green surfaces in today's Premier League stadiums can be attributed to advancements in technology and turf management practices. In the past, football pitches were often made of natural grass that was difficult to maintain and prone to damage from heavy use and adverse weather conditions. However, the development of hybrid grass fields, which combine natural grass with synthetic fibers, has significantly improved the durability and resilience of modern football pitches.Additionally, advancements in turf management practices such as improved drainage systems, sophisticated irrigation techniques, and specialized fertilizers have allowed groundsmen to maintain the playing surface to an extremely high standard.Furthermore, the increased financial investment in football has allowed clubs to invest in state-of-the-art facilities and equipment, including high-tech pitch lighting and heating systems that promote optimal growing conditions for the grass.Overall, the combination of technological innovations, improved turf management practices, and increased investment has transformed football pitches from muddy battlefields to the lush green surfaces we see in today's Premier League stadiums.'

I didn't realise the grass is a mixture of real and synthetic.

    1. Would be interesting to know what the natural/synth mix is for the new WHL pitch.

    2. I am still waiting for the advance warning of bad weather
where the pitch is retracted to protect it but still allow a match
day while other games have to be postponed.

WTF? When has that ever been a phrase?
I would not recommend doing a search for it, if anyone's wondering.

    RIP Luigi Riva

A proper footballer from an era of proper footballers. 35 international goals in 42 international games is some record, akin to Greavesie's. He also led the line for Cagliari in their only ever title Win.

Is this the picture that caused the PL board to grind to a halt for 3 pages of a thread?

I can just about remember the 70 world cup, Riva and Rivera for the Italians. Seems incredible that he remains their leading scorer with 35, when you think of Rossi, Bettega, Vialli, Baggio, Del Piero, Altobelli, Graziani, Inzaghi, but none of them got to 30 international goals.

    RIP Luigi
