Definitely a free kick and in real time the referee couldn't possibly see it was just outside the box so should have called it anyway.

The other really odd situation was near the end of the game when Clark was chasing a ball and the defender just sat down. The medical staff came on and the player went off with a non-contact injury. Did play resume with a free kick for them because it was unclear from watching as the camera remained on the player on the floor? It didn't show whether Clark kept the ball in or stopped when the defender went down. Whatever happened it wasn't a free kick for them. Really odd.

A foul that carries on into the box is supposed to be pen, innit? Exasperated that MoTD just ignored both incidents, the foul on Diaz especially. Presumably Tierney was watching golf on the other channel when the tackle happened.

I Think the ref just gave a drop ball back to Bournemouth. Now law of game says he shouldn’t have stopped play as wasn't head injury but given the scenario I’d have hoped Clarke would have knocked it out for him anyway to be a sportsman.

for me all these incidents are just minor and the refs need to up their game cos they will need to send at least 3 off to help city/Chelsea.

not sure that oil money buys in pgmol these days if the best they could get was holding the result down to 4-0

Personally I had no real complaints over Jones' sending off because I could see both POVs. I just struggle to understand how there can be such a large difference in interpretation between his and Kluiverts

Jones' goose was cooked the moment the ref was asked to go over and see a still of the moment of impact. I'm sure Kluivert would have been off too had the same yardstick been applied to him.

The VAR stopped the footage at the point of most bend of the spurs lad's leg. this is what got jones sent off.

The VAR did not show us anything from last night but it wasn't a bending leg it was on the shin pad or to the side of it.

Its entirely down to optics. Diaz was tagged over the top of the ball but his leg didn't bend so thats ok. Not even a free. Forget VAR overruling a ref we shoudl all be wondering how the ref missed this foul totally. I'd rather ignore the var guy in this and want to hear what the refs were saying with linos on that foul as they didn't even blow up.

You're making the mistake of thinking that he missed it when the reality is more likely that he let it go.

If they thought it was yellow then they can't intervene. Only overall if it's red

Then you're back to the mysterious clear and obvious error.

    maybe.

In general those are the two options.

    When in doubt assume incompetence.

Nobody could miss the scream and rolling about, nor the blatantly obvious tears in the sock

The table doesn't lie. But it doesn't tell the whole story either.

It doesn't say that KDB was out, or Salah is in Africa, or how we were robbed against Spurs.

This was my take on the Virgil/Prickford thing - they said later that because Virgil was offside and Coote didn't know the rules for Serious Foul Play, then Oliver was in the clear. But Golden Boy Oliver saw the challenge and stated he would have given a pen had Virgil not been offside, so here's the question: why the **** did HE not give Pickford a straight red? He saw the challenge and later stated it would have been red had VAR not ****ed up the procedure - is he saying he saw that challenge but needed VAR to tell him it was SFP?

What the **** is up with refs - if it's that obvious (as in yesterday's one on Diaz) issue the ****ing card and see if VAR overturns it, not the other way around - they've got so ****ing lazy now with VAR imo.

When you've got one on VAR admitting that he didn't want to make it worse for his mate who was having a tough game, you've got your answer.

Yes, for a suspected red. He can't issue a yellow after watching the replay
