They should sell Trippier,Almiron and Wilson and that will put an end to any "have to sell a star player" nonsense,£55/60m should do it.
If we sold those 3 we should get around £250m+ transfer kitty to play with (assuming we offer 5-year contracts to any new signings). That could help to fast track the next phase of the transition. BUT it would then be down to whether we have enough time left in this window to use that money wisely. Or do we just sit tight and keep the squad together for now?
5 year contracts, amortised. 5× £50m = £250m. £50m would be the absolute minimum we should sell those 3 for (combined). Otherwise, keep.
Almiron is a player that never gave anything less than 100% and I genuinely wish him all the best. He took so much **** from people that only see what's going on with the ball I feel, but overall he's been a good player for the club and deserves respect. Good luck and thankyou miggy.
Been a great servant and I'd be happy if he stays longer. But equally if the club see value in cashing in now to generate funds for an upgrade, then I wish him all the best too.
Genuinely sad to see him go mate he was like that dog ruining the game on the pitch when I was a kid. People can say what they like about his final product, but that doesn't deter from him being outstanding in other areas. A player like him that finishes would be worth about 50 million plus.... Gordon is probably that player. It's always a bit sad when you lose a player that was playing for the badge week in week out.. it's actually rare these days.
Basically no club wants Almiron so selling to Saudi is corrupt. However when other clubs do it, it's fine to milk as much dirty oil money as possible.... Yeah, I get all of that - it's just abundantly clear he's not a player to take you into the top 6 and keep you there. I think West Ham tried for him once, but that was about it from reported interest. Plus he's like 29 now. It's also potentially exciting - I can't believe with this squad they are letting people leave without replacements being ready. Could be wrong, but if we're selling him and rocking up against Fulham with literally nobody on available on the right side for a very important tie that seems weird. At this point I'm wondering if being out of Europe in 24/25 is a better idea, to get a fresher squad in place and go full tilt for top 4 again.
We really shouldn't be selling anyone this window besides fringe players that never get picked. We cannot afford to become anymore thin than we already are. We really only need a back up CM. If Willock was fit, I'd say there wouldn't be much of an issue there, we're really just short in CM. Our squad is good enough if we only have to worry about the PL and FA. It was the european campaign our squad wasn't prepared for. Our squad got us to 4th last season, and that was without Barnes, Tonali, Livramento etc.
