What a great second half performance. Some excellent one touch stuff and great to see Nunez score with some excellent finishes; that lad was everywhere.
8 points to 5th. 13 to 6th. if the European competitions go as planned 5th gets cl. we have 22 points to get to get to 70. that table tells.me city are just behind and we need to go on a long run of wins including beating them at anfield
England average being in the top 2 in europe? Theres a lot of variables at play but in general we are chasing italy and germany right now due to newcastle and man utd utter incompetence Brighton and westham winning their groups has made up a little for this shambolic showing. The rules seem to suggest that points will start to flow to teams in the later stages now starting with 4 per last 16 CL team and only 1 for EL and is really only at semi final stage ECL. That suggests to me that we need arsenal and city to go on a bit. (arsenal have a good draw so hopefully this will go well) Leipzig play madrid. I'm assuming that will be that for Leipzig. Lazio play bayern, so again this is ideal for us as one of them go out. Dortmund play psv so i am assuming dortmund go through. Inter play atletico - anyones guess there . Napoli play barca. - this one is the key for me. We want barca to go through here. Its 3 v 2 in the last 16 for italy and germany v england but heopfully thereafter its possibly 0 italian (more like 1) and 2 german v 2 english. The europa has Atalanta, Bayer Leverkusen, Brighton, Liverpool, Villarreal, West Ham. in the last 16 and Freiburg and Roma in the last 32 wiating to get there. I doubt this will really take off until the QFs but again we should be hoping italian clubs get eliminated early. I think arsenal to the QF and City to the final again might be needed depending on the draws. My ideal would be both clubs draw italian and german opponents in the QF and knock them out. I'd them be quite happy for both to lose miserably in the semis thanks for much
rbf by your own post if it was checked and var thought the same as you the result would have been what actually happened i.e.nowt
Can understand the twckle not being a red. I think it was borderline, but def a yellow. But we can’t be moaning saying that’s red then moaning saying we don’t think jones’ was. They were both similar where slightly off balanced and catches guy just above ankle. The Jota barge/trip looked a nailed on pen though. Unless they checked and it was just outside the box but I highly doubt they did that check. Was barged into his side and then guy tripped him up for good measure.
Excellent result andmgreat goals, well worked. Second half much better than first, again. Really pleased for Nunez, worked his socks off and so much better when he doesn't have time to think. Brilliant performances all over the pitch with a great league debut from Bradley. The other two youngsters made their presence felt as well. How that wasn't a penalty for the foul on Clark was mind boggling - but then again it was Tierney on VAR. Same with the terrible challenge on Diaz. It's the lack of consistency that starts the conspiracy theories. I know we all have different views on that but for me, the bias is looking more blatant every week.
I've got a picture of the Jota penalty shout, it looks just outside the box. I will see if I can find it and post it.
If you look at where the defender’s toe is and then take into account the contact is made with his knee, it’s possibly just outside the box.
The Clark one the defender flicked the ball as it went past him so don’t think that was a pen. Plus was offside in buildup as Lino our flag up after the tackle but ref played on due to advantage so no qualms.
Tricky one in that case. Worse case should have been a free kick though, not sure how the ref gave nothing. In same way he gave nothing in the diaz tackle which whether think it’s a red or not, at minimum was a foul and yellow.
I think for me the issue was no card I agree that red/yellow was up for debate But it was a card end of imho
