The big clubs are getting richer and richer and clubs like Newcastle can't just take the best players unfortunately unless the big clubs don't fancy them. I'm not saying don't try, but as we've seen throughout this takeover the players in general are not the hottest property at the time and more often appear underwhelming and that was before FFP issues kicked in.
Or do we say put in a £50m bid today, accept the 10 point penalty but have the player (assuming he wants to come). Now that precedent has been set, the punishment can be factored into a club's thinking...
I think the reason the owners said it is a 10 year plan was because they actuall6 understood the challenge and knew there would be various phases required to biild up to that level. Despite their wealth, they can't just go and buy a fantasy team overnight. I quite like it this way, it feels more 'real' watching the club evolve, rather than some magic wand.
Exactly and this is a major reason why all summer I was very vocal in saying we'd go backwards for a few years. Unfortunately it wasn't received well, but myself and plenty of other were completely correct.
