Steven Davis, the player most people never realised he was on the pitch until he was off of it.

I’ll willingly take the odd knock back (and hope they even out) in exchange for no long delays because of VAR. It’s great that a goal once given stays given. And if offside is so close a Lino doesn’t see it…does it really matter. There may be odd occasions that such things are critical (an FA Cup final perhaps) but I can live without VAR

I agree entirely Fran. Before VAR came in, many of us were so annoyed at glaring errors by the on-field officials that we desperately wanted something that would reverse those bad decisions. Now, we have had plenty of time to assess VAR and all the evidence points to the inescapable conclusion that the VAR officials are no better than the on-field ones.

The sheer joy this season of knowing that once a goal is awarded, it will stand, makes up for having the odd one unfairly given against us or denied for us.

Completely agree. The Lino made 2-3 incorrect decisions yesterday, but they were close. If it’s too close to be absolutely sure the attacker is offside, they should be given the benefit of the doubt. Over the course of a season it evens out

During one of our attacks, Che was deliberately tripped, off the ball, and in the Swansea penalty area. The referee didn't see the incident, or chose to ignore it, and neither linesman raised their flag to indicate a foul. I appreciate that VAR is a pain when it comes to offsides, and even handballs that are difficult to guarantee were deliberate, but in cases such as Che being clearly tripped up in the penalty area, VAR could play a part, even if only to draw the referee's attention to the incident.

True, but that was a foul in the box, not a direct goal scoring opportunity.

So this is what it’s like being a Man City fan. I had always wondered if it was boring and predictable. Turns out it’s just bloody great fun.

You assume they can somehow tune VAR to do the useful stuff whilst not doing any stupid stuff. That’s the problem, they can’t

Anything that doesn’t work instantly just messes with the game and is still subject to human fallibility

Goal line tech is great, infallible and instant

    ^^^ This exactly

Offsides have almost returned to the old crap system of in line being offside

That’s an interesting comparison and I can see what you mean. If he can improve and get near Davo’s level then that would be great. RM must see something like that in him
