So the nasty party have decided that they are going to close the Swansea Coast Guard Station because we have the DVLA employing thousands here What the hell has that got to with anything at all? So we who live in Swansea and the surrounding areas have their lives put at risk, because of some idiots hundreds of miles away in London! http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-15842779
You haven't seen anything yet regarding the world financial meltdown Jager, there is a hell of a lot worse to come, and the closure of our coastguard station, is small change, when have lives ever mattered, when the £ is god! The trouble is, that the people of UK, have become apathetic in the extreme, but once it starts to fall on their doorsteps in large numbers, then perhaps they'll wake up to the rot, that we have in charge of this nation, just take a look around the globe, and see the turmoil, that is hitting different countries, how many governments are in trouble, whether that be financial, or morally bankrupt, there are turbulent seas ahead, but as for us in little old Wales, we have the Welsh Assembly!!! So it will be every man for himself...............
This kind of thing makes me sick. ****ing disgusting. I hope this doesn't cost lives, but I fear it might.
DPJ- EVer read about the new world order? Its all falling into place , you Are right about the fact that its going to Get a whole lot worse in the NeXT few years. The welsh have always been shafted by every government, im suprised that people Are suprised ! Never mind ,the boys Are going into Iran soon , though how the west Think they Are going to take over the oil deals of russia and china without a fight ive no idea! But every event of the last few years is all by design ,all designed to widen the gap between rich and poor and control vast chunks of oil and finance. If population numbers can be reduced along the way then thats Even better. we Are at the point in history where big change is gonna take place ,alot of it is happening now without people Even knowing
a lot has already happened, trouble is these people control almost all aspects of media, so joe public gets to see nothing, and you see what happens if somebody try's to tell the world what is really going on(wikileaks)
Agree 100% doctor love. The power of the media makes us feel safe when we arnt and makes us feel un safe when there is no reason to, a very scary time IMO .
Yes Norway, I've read a few articles regarding this 'New World Order' in the Independent on line, seems to me to be irrational thinking from the extreme right in the US, though I'm not well informed on the subject, many Americans think that the UN is a puppet of the West for global Domination, and control, totalitarianism if you like!....... please log in to view this image
Can I just say you are going off on a tangent here, this is about the closure of the coastguard in Swansea , the saving will be circa £300k-£400k a year by closing it, the government is basing the closure on the dvla being in the city! That is complete madness, one is not dependent of the other at all, the criteria on whether it be closed should be on the need of it, it's the third busiest station in the UK and they save lives, for every life lost it equates to more than what it is being saved. The coastguard serves the entire Bristol channel , the nearest station if it's closed is Milford Haven which is an additional 1-2 hours away from here, in an emergency every second counts, it's despicable that the decision is being made despite 110k people signing a petition to keep it open.
Shocking decision based purely on saving a relatively small amount of money with Milford Haven becoming the only manned station covering a huge area. Ironically it was Milford that was originally earmarked for closure but our staff backed their retention and in doing so have now lost their own jobs.
lives will be lost that you can bet on, these multi millionaires hoo ha Henry's are on another planet. i can see an uprising in the near future and thats no joke, we need a general election asap and the only way we are going to get that is if the lib dems do the decent and honorable thing and pull out of the coalition....very bleak times ahead for everyone except the millionaires....
Agree superswan99, going off on a tangent or not ,its all linked im afraid Jager, where are the nearest multimillion pound LNG and Oil refinaries/installations?? what is the priorty, protecting people or protecting the shipping going into that part of the world? from a strategic point of view its better to have the station nearest the money isnt it ?
Well said Norway, it is all linked indeed! Please sir, can I go to the toilet!............................. please log in to view this image
Norway I am not suggesting Milford should be closed either, just that these stations provide an essential service , if there is god forbid two emergencies one up near cardigan and one in the Porthcawl area at the same time, there is a huge stretch of resources. The savings as I said are about £300k-£400k a year for each station, how much is a human life valued at ? Basing whether to close a station purely on how many people work in the dvla is frankly daft, it's like closing one near London because there are to many cockneys employed at road sweeping, there is no connection between either. The government claims to bring in the big society by opening up public services, well they are doing it alright by opening it up for closure, basically he is a ****ing muppet, Cameron and the nasty party must go, and take the up your arse libs with them!
Cynical as it may seem but the Tory majority in that part of pembrokeshire is very small , they can't afford to be seen in promoting more job losses (or can they?)
How much is a Human life valued at ? its valued at about Zero Jager ! quite frankly im suprised you even ask, saving peoples lives is not on the agenda. Just my view of course and some may say its very cynical . Bonymean jack- There could be an element of protecting the jobs in"little england" for the tory voting public, im not sure what the allegence is in that part of the world nowadays though A nice peice of real estate is now for sale in Mumbles i guess
I know what you mean Norway , but look at this way, if the main wage earner died because of these cutbacks , it would mean not only would it tear apart a family, but that family would likely need state aid for a substantial period , the knock on effect is massive, the unfortunate thing is that the accountants can see how much is saved by closing the station, they can't calculate a subjective figure on someone claiming benefits. Also it means that 28 people lose their jobs in a tough economic climate, the savings of closing this station amounts to nothing if these people cannot get jobs for a protracted period, again the accountants don't look at that. I think that these bloody politicians should be taken out of the equation on this matter, and this decided on need, being the third busiest station in the whole of the UK suggests a need.
saving money instead of saving lives is atrocious policy and shows how out of touch this pathetic coalition are......
Jager- I totally agree with you ,but since when has South west wales and in particular Swansea ever mattered ? We are always getting shafted by local (Welsh assembley) and central Govt. This part of the world has been turned into a backwater over the last 20yrs, most recently the cutting of electrification of the rail network to Swansea(stop in Cardiff, therefore keep your money in Cardiff) to siting the Welsh assembley to Cardiff(even though North wales backed Swansea and the people of Cardiff voted against having it in their own town) to having massive european investment to turn cardiff docks into "the waterfront" all the money poured into elsewhere and local infrastructure/jobs created east of swansea! even Llanelli secured more european money than swansea! Even the relocation of essential /specialist hospital services has been targeted and moved(or proposed) to Cardiff even though everything is already in place here. Think of recent headlines when swansea secured a Dry docks project, hardly any Swansea labour was used on the contracts,a closed shop(im not going tell you where that company was based) I guess what im saying is that im not suprised to see our city kicked in the teeth yet again, im more suprised that people think its a suprise! the tough economic climate has been tougher here than nearly anywhere else but has been for alot longer. from local to central to european to globel . It has nothing to do with need ,more what influebtial people want
All the big contracts in swansea have gone to english firms, the sa1, the new quadrant, refit of ships in dry dock and many many more.
