No. We need an Ipswich loss. 2nd place will do. It would be nice to win the league but it's hardly a priority. First we need to make 2nd our own. Ridiculous to look past that right now.
Draw for me too. If there are two catchable teams, it doubles the chances that one of them will bottle it. And we've got to be confident we can catch Ipswich over the next 18 games, whether they pick up a point against Leicester or not.
A draw wouldn’t be a disaster, but the best result would be a Leicester win. I just can’t see Leicester having a bad run.
Why not? Still plenty of games to go. We have no idea where Leicester, Ipswich or Leeds will be at the end of the season. Ipswich could regain form. Can you imagine us finishing in second 2 points behind Leicester? How would we feel about Leicester taking 3 points then? That said I would not be unhappy with a Leicester win atm.
The marginal benefit of being in second is waaaaaaaaaay bigger than the marginal benefit of being a mere eight points back of first rather than ten. Leicester to smash them, catching them thereafter is just a bonus.
Exactly, our last four promotions have all been in 2nd place, we don't do Champions. Always a bridesmaid, never a bride. Unfashionable team, the ugly sister, one of the less glamorous teams, second banana. That's us.
Might just be me but I wouldn't care in the slightest. At the start of the season no one wants or cares about winning the league, you just want promotion.
Be nice to win the league though wouldn’t it? If they draw Ipswich go ahead of us by one point. Which means we have to make up a one point deficit and maintain. As opposed to just maintaining level points with them. Not much in it.
Seeing as I never win bets, I am thinking of lumping some money on Ipswich to go up automatically. Maybe Leeds too
Am I allowed to keep banging the drum for “it doesn’t matter either way, what matters is if we accumulate enough points or not “ ? Last time I did I got shouted down pretty quickly!
If you use Bet365, Denise Coates sends her thanks. The multibillionaire boss of gambling company Bet365 has collected annual pay and dividends of more than £260m – one of the world’s biggest-ever pay awards but less than the record-breaking £471m she collected in 2020. Denise Coates, who set up Bet365 in a portable building in Stoke-on-Trent in 2000, was paid a salary of £213m in the year to March 2022, according to the company’s latest accounts published on Friday. As the company’s controlling shareholder she is also entitled to at least 50% of the £100m in dividend paid for the year. While her £263m pay is huge – and works out at just over £1m for every working day of the year – it is 12% less than the £300m she collected in 2021, as the company paid out less profit while spending millions on international expansion plans. Her total pay since 2016 is almost £1.5 billion. But on the down side her family owns Stoke City FC.
And the UK thanks her for her tax contribution https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/the-tax-list-2022-the-uks-50-biggest-taxpayers-revealed-2v0hg8fmf (behind a paywall. so : Denise Coates, the gambling entrepreneur, and her family have again topped The Sunday Times Tax List this year, contributing more than £480 million to the public finances in 12 months. )
The Leeds attack is crazy. Piroe and Gelhardt only make the bench and Gnonto doesn’t make the squad (he appears to be off)
