I have no problem with using Stephens here. More commenting on the fact that there's been a lot of talk about finding ways to integrate Stephens back into the lineup and...maybe we just don't.
We’ve been pretty slow and lazy this half. Rothwell on is also questionable? Bringing someone on who’s not use to the system. Full complacency mode on
It was no exaggeration to say we could have had 5 in the first half. It's also no exaggeration to say this could easily be 3-3 right now.
Seem to remember it panning out exactly the same way against Plymouth. I think Stephens when a mainstay is capable but is out of practise, but we have an extremely strong partnership in Bednarek and THB, its foolish to tinker with that now. It is very hard to complain about anything Saints are doing on the whole, but it is rather farcical that Swansea are still close enough to be threatening the 3 points here.
Yeah we should’ve scored more, but the Yates and Bolasie chances were better than anything we created imo. Bolasie one similar to the Armstrong miss where the keeper saved with his feet actually Libby summed it up better than me above anyway
Team need some support to get through final stages so our fans start singing about John Westwood. Sigh.
My feeling is that unless you are managing bookings or fitness, subs should really be aimed at the forwards and wings rather than the core (CB, CM). I just feel it is too damaging to the structure and rhythm that our system requires and Plymouth and today seem to be validating that.
I think the forward play this half has been more disappointing tbh. No shots on target according to the commentator which is poor really.
Also I get that it is our style of play, but all the momentum was built up from them pressing our short play out from the back, and they created a couple of chances from this. Surely use your brain slightly and just go long for the last 5/10 mins when the other team is really going for it?
