Time to start integrating the summer signings, only Jobe has had a fair chance and we need to start seeing whether they're going to be able to help us going forwards. Patto Hume Seelt Ballard Alese Onien Neil Ba Pritch Clarke Ruysn Seelt needs to be given a chance, hes looked fine when hes played and its mainly been out of position, wont know if hes good enough if hes sitting on the bench. Already been said on Rusyn, stunned he was dropped at Ipswich and he should get 4 or 5 games off the bounce like Burstow did to see if he can do the job, was fine against Birmingham and Preston when starting. Jobe needs a rest imo (has done since TM was here) and Ekwah could do with being taken out for a couple of weeks for me, Onien the only alternative in CDM for him unless Matete is ready. I'd like to see AA given a run too but Pritch has been too important and has earned his place. Ba just gives more balance on the right for me and didnt do a lot wrong at Ipswich. Wouldnt be surprised if we were unchanged or if its Rusyn for Jobe. Feels like Hull have been stumbling a little bit lately so we should be looking for a positive result. Great thread as always.
Thanks RTB. As always top notch. Bit deflating at Ipswich. I still think coaches cant account for daft mistakes and Adil made one. I do think we need to freshen it up though. Jobe looks jaded as plenty have said. Can only assume it is a mental not physical thing as his stats would show up on the physical side I would assume. Ekwah has frustrated me for a while now. Rusyn in for Jobe. Not sure who for Ekwah but I would be keen to change him. Rigg is, and always is, my first ask. I really would like to see Matete given a run as well personally, just give us some high energy harrasment in the middle and try and set a tempo. Probably go something like Patto Pembele ONien Ballard Hume Neil Matete Ba Pritch Clarke Rusyn I know Pembele is short of match fitness but Ba can cover really well. I just would like to see a natural attacking full back down the right to balance up the left side threat.
Just a win please. Don't give a flying one if it's boring. Don't care if it bounces in off some fkrs buttock for an own goal, I just want3 points. Not much to ask for is it
That team looks good to me . . . . I'd go with it, which would see how good Onions could be in the Cory role. He's adapted well wherever he's been played, and I'd like to see him reverting to being a midfield protector
That comment about playing Jobe as a striker against Ipswich really pissed me off as Jobe did not play as a striker he kept dropping back into midfield and was more prominent defensively than offensively in that game so he can spin it how he likes but Jobe did not play a strikers role. That aside I am patiently waiting for a change in tactic when we decide to try and open up and start pressing high again, being frightened to concede is hampering us scoring and it shows. I agree we needed to get better defensively but we have stopped with our high press which means our defense is now under more pressure and we offer less going forward and the build up is far too slow. If we as fans can see it how can Beale Dodds and Co not see it ??? Any way I am predicting with heart and not head and think this will be a tight 2-1 hopefully to us
He played there as part of that key spine under Neil in league 1. Him and evans were excellent, just get him to keep it simple, protect the back 4 and quick passes to Neil or pritch, even those cross field passes he plays well to the opposite wing
I'd like O'Nien to move into a DM or CM role but with Huggins, Cirkin and now Alese all out we'll need him in defence. Say everyone was fit (unlikely I know) I'd pick: Patterson Hume Seelt Ballard Cirkin O'Nien Ba Ekwah Neil Clarke Rusyn Frees Neil and Ekwah up to push up the pitch to support Rusyn and not have to track back so much. Also protects the defence and brings another unit onto the pitch.
Right, not too many changes yet. We were always going to burn some games while MB 'assesses the squad'. But I think there has been some small evidence of changes, such as to at least try sometimes to cross into the box rather than dribble into it. Plus the apparent willingness to make Pritchard a regular starter. I'd like to see a couple more simple (obvious?) changes though. Such as dropping Jobe at CF for Rusyn. It would be great if Matete came in and shook things up. He looked fresh in pre-season and would bring some energy if they think his touch is up to Championship level.
Change Ekwah for Pritch and I’m in. At the moment, Pritch is one of the first names on the team sheet, for me.
Rather than contractual maybe appearances are linked to transfer fee and freedom to seek a move. If he doesn’t play enough games then he can leave for a song to protect his career development?
I am really hoping for a win in this game as this will be my last game for a long time. I hope we can put together a rousing confidence building performance which will put the club firmly back on track. I will not be able to get the result for the following game against stoke until I land in Dubai as will be in the air so will just have to keep my fingers crossed on that one, but will do my best to follow the lads from down under and obviously keep checking in on here when possible.
That’s happening with Neil and whoever else is playing with him, at the moment, anyways. I’d play 09 as the defensive midfielder. Neil and Pritch in CM with Neil ‘holding the fort’ and Pritch pushing on at every opportunity.
Hope it ****ing warms up a bit. I might be a doubt for this if we're still getting -8c temps tomorrow night
