Provided the wages are reasonable, I would see more upside than downside with M'Villa. Just having his experience would be a boost to the young lads, and he would be closer to the first team than Evans. Wasn't Yorkie about 35 when Keane brought him from Australia and he played a part in winning the league that year?
I think he’d be a great signing. That midfield has no organisation whatsoever at times and a cool, experienced head in that DM role will transform us imo. Nowhere near the calibre of Hendo mind.
As i said im not against it at all, n hope he plays his part on the pitch if he does sign One of my fave ever sunderland players, just really need a cdm who can contribute quickly - hope if it is him he can get up to speed quickly
You'd think the club would have done due diligence and if they see what you see then won't be going anywhere near him
the exact reason an experienced player is needed for CDM, imho such players develop 'eyes in the back of their heads' as they need to be aware of everything around them, it's like a sixth sense to be able to see possible passes and hold good positions, rarely diving into tackles. dan neil is probably our closest current player until/if evans comes back but he needs to 'grow a bit' and learn to use his strength when needed and to do so without fouling, the experience comes with games, learning to read how the opposition are playing or changing and be able to change the lads at the back to nulify them.
Yeah, same. My love in was with Jan not Yann. Far superior player. I wasn’t sold on him like everyone else when we were premier league. He’s 33 and hasn’t been playing a lot. Not convinced he is what we need.
