Any transfer/loan fee received for Llorente after this season is 100% profit towards FFP though Doc. That's why it was good business extending his contract beyond the initial 4 years. Of course we might not get anything at all but time will tell I guess.
Orta get's lot of stick but most of it is undeserved. Made some good signings and would have made a hell of lot more if we'd had enough money. Yes of course mistakes were made but he also got many things right and was well liked by everyone at the club.
He wasn’t well liked by everyone at the club and that came from a very good source. Quite the opposite in fact
Maybe it's just me but that thought never enters my head before any game and it doesn't matter who the opposition is. In fact we could be 2-0 up at HT and it's still more hope than expectation. Each to their own I guess and given our home form it's certainly reasonable to expect that outcome, unfortunately doesn't mean it will happen though.
Interesting. Do we now know the specifics of these loan clauses yet? I remember it being discussed before, but can't remember if we found out any accurate info or not. For me, the key is the 'relegation trigger'. Does it refer to the actual process of being relegated itself, or the state of being 'in relegation from the PL'. What I mean is, if we don't get promoted this season, do these clauses click in again automatically as we remain in the state of relegation from the PL, or would we have to be relegated to L1 for them to be triggered again?
If you were Brendan Aaranson (for example) would you trust your ability enough to run your contract down for that big payday? Not sure I would. Harrison is a bit vogue right now and I always loved his effort more than his ability but, you, as a professional gambler, wouldn’t go all in on him getting an amazing contract anywhere, of that I am sure
I've not seen the contracts personally but it was widely reported during early season transfer window that these clauses would be re-activated if we were to remain a Championship club. I don’t know if that's true but it was reported by quite a few.
They are on a big contract now. The loan clauses, as I understand it, forces the loan clubs to pay FULL wages as per their contract with us. If they stay with us in the Championship then it's reduced wages. They will all opt to go out to get their full wage. Aaronson will figure out that he can't get as good a contract as he has here on current form so may as well run this contract out on loan. Then go on a free with a decent signing on fee. Suppose it depends on the player.
They did indeed. Now what about next season as at the moment that would seem doubtful ? Of course there will still be takers, but not at his full salary in my opinion and then that would put the ball back in our court somewhat. That's if you're correct about the contract situation and it has to be at full salary to trigger our obligation to allow him to go out on loan.
It should have been doubtful for this season but there appeared to be loan offers for him. The full salary stuff was reported multiple times last summer and Marathe touched on the money saved on wages too in an interview. There is something behind it. Without knowing the full details on the loan release clauses its impossible to say. However, if a club meets the release clause then there will be nothing we can do about it. Sinisterra was threatening legal action because we wouldn't honour his release.
