I think “priority” could be lost in translation. A lot of European journalists seem to say “priority” when talks are actively happening. As opposed to just interest.
Just my thought, but not every player should be based on sell on. Some should be based solely on whether they can contribute to progression on the pitch. Baath was a great example - I suspect we paid him big money knowing there was no return other than what we achieved on the pitch. Hardie is 26, if he comes in and has 3 great seasons, at 29/30 he could still be a decent fee earned should we upgrade. I think the club have that outlook and for the right player will do so, probs just dont see Hardie as that.
Judging from the lack of cover in CDM at times, I believe it is a priority position, so while as you rightly state it could be lost in translation, it's not too far off of the track.
A daft thought passed through my mind. Is it a move to get the fans on side after the last couple of weeks? Would KLD say go and get me someone the fans can get behind, raise the mood so to speak? Would be odd to suddenly, after all the analysis and prep, to realise a free agent is the one you want. I want to believe KLD is better than that, but I am still reminded of Defoe and the flirting with Keane. Something was fundamentally wrong during that period and I doubt it would be Speakman pulling those strings.
I just hope if we sign him it's because they think he can make a difference even if its till the end of the season. I know the model is open to over 26s if they are free transfers. Hopefully if he was to come in he would also bring the experience for the younger players. Just hope it doesn't go like Defoe as so many people are excited by the chance of him coming back, however if it goes wrong it's just another stick to beat the club with
Agreed, hopefully if he does sign he will contribute and its a signing based on they believe he is the best player available now Still think it might be his agent just getting his name out there. No decent club has offered him a deal yet which is always a concern. If he still has it a player like that would have some really good offers. Hes had offers from ligue 2 clubs i know that n some offers from the middle east
Well, while that could be filed under "Conspiracy", it could be a form of Damage control. The whole Newcastle debacle(Hasn't crossed my mind since) still sticks in the throat of some. It has a smell of DeFoe and Keane about it, but that was old hat. Who knows mate. Perhaps they have looked and yes, while they have more data than Ivan Dragos training team, they mite think a curve ball is needed as there aren't many youngsters playing CDM as well as an old head that's been playing there for years. We'll see Mr Top.
it had crossed my mind as well but I didn’t dare post it as I’ve already been told off for being sensationalist today
imo i think KLD got caught up in the emotion of it.....and got his fingers burned i was convinced it would stop us looking at m'villa from a once bitten twice shy point of view.....then came the recent PR disaster making this news today feel more pragmatic rather than emotional
Not sold on the Moore signing particularly. In some ways it reminds me a bit of when we signed Kyle Lafferty. It also makes me feel a bit like I did when we signed Grigg. Everyone thinks he's going to be the answer but it just doesn't feel like it's going to be a good a fit. We could do with a big 9 though so, well, maybe... Can see the sense in the M'Vila signing though. Even if he isn't up to speed to go straight into the side. With the number of young French lads of Francophone African heritage in our squad, he would be a fantastic role model and mentor (trashing rented apartments aside).
Good post and points. Will Grigg was a f**kin disgrace. Went on like he was playing the guards in mean machine, clearly didn't want be here and had a face like a smacked arse. Absolutely **** himself playing for the biggest club side he'll ever play for. Sorry for the rant but when I see his name I fume.
No it's not mate, the club have been in contact with him in previous windows but things never lined up. Now we don't have Evans it would make sense to bring in someone younger Seriously I hadn't paid much attention to the rumours and this if my first comment ... ... but I messaged the French lad I've mentioned before, who contributes to L'Équipe, and asked if he's heard anything. All he sent back was a YouTube link which made me laugh out loud. What a boost for the likes of Aouchiche, etc, if he actually came here!
ekwah has the potential to be great he just needs to stop being so laid back, hopefully mvilla could get that out of him it's a gamble but it's defo worth the gamble i've heard today aswell us and man u are happy with the deal for amad, just down to man u to loan him, looks like he's staying but all we need is a yes and it will be all systems go
Ekwah just seems like a very nice lad, plays like one too if he can find a bit of bastard in himself he would be superb
he so comfy on ball and can pick a pass and can shoot sometimes he just so lacks on it that he loses it, if you could get that buzz into him in my opinion he would be are biggest asset he will fill out the next couple of years aswell so should get stronger
Sunderland Fans: "****s sake. Sign an experienced CDM man" Sunderland enter negotiations to sign an experienced CDM "**** sake, why we signing an experienced CDM man"
Someone needs to tell him, "How, Pierre, become a bit of a **** house on the pitch, you will earn about £25k a year more, (at another club or if we get promoted) stop all the fancy ****, crunch some people (you have to get away with it though) you can still be a canny lad when you are not playing"
