Reading Rosenior take on tonight’s match and the potential signings, looks like Pandur and one other, probably a panic buy from Turkey given Acuns contacts, our defence has been disastrous this season, it’s obvious where we need players Greaves and Jones were playing that far apart v Norwich they might as well have been full back and striker. I despair I really do.
Some words... Birmingham boss Tony Mowbray told BBC WM: "I wanted to see everyone in my first two games and we tried to do that. I think there was a lack of the real intensity we wanted to play at in the first half and being able to change half the team gave us that injection it needed. "We brought quality on to the pitch and it got the job done. "It's hard to put down a total blueprint of how you want to play in three or four days. "It's great to score late goals, particularly in cup matches to win, so let's keep going." Hull City boss Liam Rosenior told BBC Radio Humberside: "We keep shooting ourselves in the foot from positions of complete control. I said to the players after the game that this has to be the last time we are unlucky this season. "My job was to try and get this team into the play-offs and we are a point outside that. We are in a poor run of form and we've got injuries and players away but my job is to steer us through this. "I'm aware this is a results business but at the same time if anyone tells me we're not in a good place...every Championship team goes through difficult patches and I will stick with our identity and style. "I think Matt (Ingram) will be disappointed with the goals. His overall performance was very good but it's just moments."
I think he'll know himself that we aren't on a good run, doesn't take a rocket scientist to work out that, so with the poor form.comes scrutiny, and as such pressure. I really hope.we can turn it around quickly, for.me he made the right call today with the lads out there, sadly there's weak links, and with what we have missing, we are gonna suffer, but as he says himself, it's down to him to get us through it. Didnt hear his comments after the game but I'd be amazed if we only bring one more in as well as Pandur
It's a bit mad but Stan's only just turned 17, so for a young defender, he's miles ahead of the curve.
Is he trying to say that tonight’s loss and the previous recent losses were due to bad luck? LR is out of his depth I’m afraid, love the guy cause of his time here and I know how much the club means to him. I really want him to be the one to make us successful but just can’t see it happening.
Well, I know he's not been great but I've always thought he's tried his best whenever he's been on the pitch. The Twitter or whatever its called now crowd seem to have decided to direct their ire at him in recent weeks and if he's read any of it then I'm not surprised he's pissed off. Longman syndrome again from some fans
I unfortunately think this is true. I don’t think he has the ability without the Philogene’s and Delap to coach a squad above bottom half table squad. We have a possession identity but we rely heavily on high quality players which is down to the ambition of Acun to get us in the top half of the table. Take Philogene’s individual quality away we are in a relation scrap, any other semi decent manager has us in the same place. No matter how much he bangs on about our style of play, we would be in the same place with any other semi - competent gaffer.
It's interesting, Boro are in a similar position with Carrick. When they had injuries and a poor summer window he had them on a hiding to nothing, but they stuck with him, strengthened, and got players back from injury, and they're surging up the table. They're not going up this season I wouldn't have thought, but they look like being patient with him and playing the long game. I wonder if we'll have the balls to do the same.
Just not true though is it. He’s not blameless but the squad has been decimated over the last few months and whilst the results haven’t been good performances are still at a reasonable level. Every team would struggle without their star player and we’re arguably missing our star 3 at the moment. To say we’d be in a relegation battle without Philogene is just laughable and reeks of an ulterior motive
"We keep shooting ourselves in the foot from positions of complete control. I said to the players after the game that this has to be the last time we are unlucky this season." But what about the possession stat? Did he run out of time? Unlucky with the injuries like everyone else in the league but it seems he's feeling the heat. This game meant nothing, Friday night's does.
Yeah obviously going to struggle without our best player but good managers overcome that, our success as a team shouldn’t be reliant on one player.
