How many players have come through it in the last 5-6 years?

Bowen, Keano, Greaves, Fleming, Jacob and there's others who have been moved on at value to the club.

Stop deflecting this to being about the academy. Just accept you're being ridiculously over expectant on Furlong, and that he wasn't a Rosenior signing, so it's stupid to use it as a stick to beat Rosenior (or anyone else) with until we see how he develops over the next 3 or so years of his contract.

Has this argument been going on Furlong?

The academy costs like £2m a year to run, and it's returned over £30m in sales in the last 5/6/7 years. Yes it pays for itself and then some

If that's the case, it means we expected Vinagre to play every game this season. Given he's not managed more than 20 league appearances in a season, in his whole career, that suggests either the club are moronic, or they expected Furlong was ready to be a decent backup...

I don't get why it's even an argument.

A decent young Championship player goes for £5m+, if we're paying £100k for a young player, the success rate for it to be worthwhile can be ridiculously low. Having better young players around the squad is also cheaper in wages than having established pros as backups and allows us to spend more money on key areas.

Furlong might work, he might not, but it's still a good gamble.

We've signed McLoughlin, Slater, Jones, and Vaughan all as cheap punts so it's definitely a worthwhile strategy

This is going to go on Furlonger isn't it. Come to think of it, we need a winger. Let's call FurLongman.

Surprised at Allahyar, sounded very close to the exit door. I would prefer us to keep him as I think he can come good, wouldn't mind seeing him moved centrally at times. One of the few who could get in behind the way Connolly does.

No, we expected Jacob not to get injured in pre season and also that Greaves or Coyle could deputise on the left also. Sadly Coyle's been needed on the right because Christie come back with the turning circle of noahs ark and Jacob has had setbacks returning to full fitness.

Forget Twine and Allhyar, they aren’t good enough.
