Aye, probably. Cant see the polls changing, they couls pull rabbits of hats all year long but the public and media have had enough. They are done. I was reading about the role of reform recently. Some polls suggest ex Labour voters who gave the tories their vote last time are going there and not back to labour. Ironically it may end up with even more seats for labour, unless Lib Dems can do something special.
Ironically, given the title of the thread, I think it was Johnson who killed the current Tory party. All the dressing up, 'hilarious jokes' and capers with JCBs and zipwires fooled people for a while and MPs were happy to go along with virtually anything that won them seats. But he was ultimately divisive and incapable of actually doing the job. Those who pretended to back him had to quickly distance themselves and back the next PM, then the next. They'd run against each other and pull each other to pieces, then pretend to back each other despite the obvious hatred.With all the sackings, resignations and by elections there's no way back imo. No doubt Johnson is culpable. I have said before I think he was a PM for a crisis, just not the one he got. Too complicated for him I think and he was a poor judge of character in terms of who he trusted. I think a lot of govts just run out of steam after so long in power, or maybe they take power as meaning absolute authority. This lot have, the last lot did. If it were a boxing match it would be stopped because they are on the ropes and cant get off them. Then there is the infighting. In some ways the tories have had some extraordinary things to deal with like Covid and Brexit. Not every action and policy choice has been bad. But when they have made an arse of things it has been spectacularly bad. We have an outgoing Tory MP here. She has been in post for a long time, backbencher but who has done a lot of local good actually. An MP who seems to stand for her region. She personally supported some local things I was involved with. I dont agree with her party politics, but she has done her job well and with integrity. Labour have classified us as a non-battleground seat. We dont have a candidate yet, and if we do I suspect it means they will be on there own. The tories will probably win here again, a typical rural community which Labour seem not too interested in. I have my suspicions this time about why they wont fight too hard round here, and it isnt because the tories have it sown up. There is an appetite for change here, which is quite something and says a lot about the current conservative party.

Seem Rwanda are getting political pressure from other African nations not to accept any refugees as it doesn't look right. Good on them. Their leader has offered to return the £450m and Rachel Reeves has said labour would take them up on this and spend the money on processing the refugees better.

I'm generally against the 'attack ads' we're beginning to see - for my money copying American politics would be a disaster and it reeks of not being able to talk about your own policies. However, Better Call Keir is very funny.
All attack ads are pathetic in my opinion. In a grown up society, where people want to form a judgement, politics shouldnt be played at this base level.
